Like I said, both sides were at fault. Trying to lay this entirely at the feet of Xavier and claiming UC's only flaw was reacting is ridiculous.

What's ridiculous is thinking that a player getting in the face of a fan in the stands - a middle-aged woman at that - is a "who cares?" behavior.

That is not a who care's action. That behavior to an opposing player is undesirable. That behavior to a FAN IN THE STANDS is 100% TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.

That's the sort of attitude I would expect from a Xavier fan.

When these things happen it is a temptation to say that everyone is to blame, which makes us look objective and even-handed to our friends and acquaintances.

But not everything in the world is 50:50. Sometimes there is right and wrong. Sometimes one party is more responsible than another party, even if both parties have done something wrong.

Suggesting that both sides are equally wrong dilutes Xavier's institutional negligence and absolves them of guilt. Everybody's guilty! So nobody is really guilty. Business as usual.

UC's players are clearly guilty of what they did. Xavier's players are guilty of what they did and deliberately provoked. And Xavier University as an institution is guilty of institutional neglect and failure to control.

So anyway, what the heck. I give up trying to convince you. It's not worth the effort.

Sorry, I'm just not going to waste my time screaming "Look! Look! Xavier's the bad guys! They're bringing down Western civilization! UC just retaliated, that's all!". UC's just as guilty as Xavier. Take a page out of Mick Cronin's book and accept that everyone was responsible. Trying to blame XU for not "controlling" the environment is ridiculous given that it was the players who created this mess. If anyone is to blame for not controlling the players, it's their coaches and referees who missed the opportunity to do so.

Honestly, I'm tired of the whole thing too and think I'm down commenting on it after this post.

That video doesn't show what people are talking about. Right as that segment begins, it shows her pointing at Frease and complaining about something. Whatever happened was edited out of the clip. One would need to see what was going on several seconds before the clip starts to know what caused her to react that way.

Maybe Channel 19 would like to share their B-roll from that angle so we all can see everything that happened. Their camera had a better angle on the action than I had from 50 feet farther away in row AA, section 111. The lady and Whit were in row A, section 113.

Fox 19 removed this video from the website. It showed X in too negative a light. UC players were long gone into the locker room.

On the day of the game Fox 19 put most of the negative slant towards UC. And it was either them or Channel 9 that said something to the effect of "For 39-1/2 minutes Xavier did their 'talking' on the court, essentially saying they were not doing any trash talking until the last 30 seconds and the post game - no mention of Poo Holloway jawing at UC's players and bench the entire game.

Agree that both UC and XU are culpable, but only one administration took this situation seriously and gave their players more than a slap on the wrist. That was UC.

And I do think and have said after the last few Crosstown shootout that Xavier has tried to draw UC in to confrontation and up until this year UC has not gotten involved. Last year throughout the second half X was taking cheap shots and Holloway threw a punch. UC let it go.

The fact is Mack and his staff let their stars get away with murder and it all boiled over. I am embarrassed with how UC responded and love that the administration took decisive action. With XU failing to do the same I do not believe UC should put their players in that kind of situation again.

It has since been taken down by the original person who posted the video, I'm assuming that's the person who recorded it as well. I watched it on my friends ipad and didn't get a chance to show anyone else before it was taken down.
