RE: Doeren showing interest in Kansas?
Out of curiosity, has DD been seen/heard/quoted saying this or is it all speculation based on the reporting of the website?

If they are offering $2 + million, he should go.

I don't care who we have as our HC... Money talks no matter who you are. Anyone would leave for a payday.

Sahly seems like a solid journalist to me that would not tweet this if he did not have confirmation from at least two sources that he considered reliable.

Yeah this isn't a Kill situation. You didn't hear a word about this until after the MAC Championship. I can't blame anyone who leaves for more money and at least DD would have done it right. Obviously I hope he stays but the man brought us a MAC Chanpionship and I'll always be a fan of his for it.

Fair enough. Just trying to find a way out of this, I guess.

And if Doeren does go I really hope they take a long hard look at Fleck.

Sahly was tweeting Delegal and myself and I don't think he's gotten any conformation about it, he said he wasn't sure how much he believed it.

Here's a thread titled It's Fulmer or Doeren from "The Huddle", the football message board at kusports.com.

DD deserves any job offer he gets. The job he did with the defense the second half of the year is nothing shy of amazing. He's not Jerry Kill.

Pitt's Todd Graham is rumored to be on the list.

+1

Saw this on the Kansas Scout board: "I've heard from 2 people now that have a bit of inside knowledge at No. Ill that KIll was much better at game planning and the small details of program management than Doeren is."

As long as you don't mind your two best players not being starters. 03-lmfao

RE: Doeren showing interest in Kansas?
I'm not buying this at all. I like Dave Doeren a good deal, but there is no way a Kansas program is going to take a flyer on a guy who has been a head coach for ONE SEASON. Especially not after the Turner Gill debacle.

Like I've said, Doeren needs to show the ability to recruit, develop a defense and adapt to a post-Harnish era. Until he does that he isn't a legitimate candidate for any big time job. Do I expect him to do these things and leave NIU at some point? Absolutely.

@nburzych that reporter has a good history, good sourcing, good track record. But it's college football. Things change quickly.

The credible coaching rumor mill spots are pretty reliable. These guys are well connected. This is a link in Sahly's twitter to the KC Star article referencing DD expressing interest. He doesn't need to "express" interest. They will come to you. So, unless there is passionate denial, and DD has expressed interest in this opening after being quoted as saying he loves it here and saying he is staying until they (NIU) tells him to leave, how does that resonate with others? That's what has me ticked. How can the guy stand up there tonight at the College Football Awards show and represent the program with integrity? Again, no issue with building your coaching career and making millions, but why shove it in everyone's face after arguably the finest moment in our football history?

RE: Doeren showing interest in Kansas?
The MAC is a damn fine football conference. But if you have a coach worth his salt then you must understand he will move on to greener pastures. It speaks HUGELY of the MAC that in the Big 10 alone you have MAC alumnus Urban Meyer (the biggest name in college football), Brady Hoke (look what he did in year one at Michigan), Jerry Kill (his career progression speaks for itself), the late Terry Hoeppner (an immensely respected coach). And you've got Brian Kelly at Notre Dame and Butch Jones at Cincinnati.

That's impressive. Hell yeah it will be good to see Doeren's name eventually added to this list. But folks, I'm not buying that it happens now. Nope. Too soon.

When the day comes at Doeren leaves, I will congratulate the man and wish him great success.

Agreed, given the quotes you mentioned above (which I also remember) I really hope this is all false, or blown up.
