Godda wonder if our motivation can match or exceed last year given the fact the dawgs accomplished what has been a program goal for decades.

Will these these dawgs be truly hungry or somewhat satisfied?

Redemption is a powerful motivator and ractchets up emotions during practices and games.

I like being the underdog. Other than WISC game - is this the only other game this season we did not get picked as the favorite?

I would bet we were dogs at Toledo. Maybe WMU, but I'm not sure on that one.

Pretty sure we were 7point dogs vs. Toledo...

This team has been in must win mode since the MAC opening loss to CMU. At times, they played like they felt the pressure of the must win circumstance, which was evident in the last two regular season games, and extremely pronounced in the first half of the MACC.

I think this team comes out loose, and for the first time really will not have any pressure to do anything but have fun and play football. I'll bet we see the Huskies at their best in Mobile.

Playing loose is great but how much fire is left in the collective bellies of Huskies?

Every game since CMU has been played with a sense of urgency.

Will bowl game be played likewise?

It's much easier said than done.

If the GoDaddy was being played next Saturday, that might be an issue, but there is plenty of time for the Huskies to come down from this high and get back to the business of winning another bowl game.

I could be wrong but it sure looked to me like Harnish was playing in some pain during the MACC game. He has a month to heal and when he is healthy he is very difficlut to contain. Anyone judging our team based on that game alone could be seriously understimating us which is fine with me.

Arkansas State's record is filled with big wins over teams like MTSU, Memphis, North Texas, Louisey Monroe, Troy, and FL Atlantic. Too bad they won't be playing any of those teams in their bowl game. I'll take the point on the Huskies.

I agree. They've got the monkey off their back and only have to look up. I think the seniors will be inspired to play well and I think that the Harnish-Lynch package will be a fun one to watch.

Their money wins were turnover ridden affairs.

ULL had 5 turnovers (lost by 9)
WKU had 2 turnovers (lost by 4)
ULM had 4 turnovers (lost by 5)
FIU had 2 turnovers (lost by 18)
Troy had 4 Turnovers

If we take care of the ball, we will be fine. If we dont, like Ohio, we will make this close

I'd rather be the underdog. We weren't predicted to win the MAC but did. Let the team continue to have that prove themselves mentality.

Also, if you want to compare wins between the two teams then NIU's resume looks more impressive. The 1-A teams we have beaten have a combined 52 wins, whereas the 1-A teams they've beaten have a combined 38 wins.

Of their last 6 games, 5 have been blowouts. Of our last 6, 5 have come down to the final possession, if not play.

To be honest, considering that along with the even records the two teams have, I'm a little surprised they aren't favored by a few more points.

And our record is filled with big wins over Army, Cal Poly, Bowling Green, Buffalo et al.

Both our schedules are equally as poor. The difference is we somehow lost to 2 horrible teams. They didn't lose to any.

RedWolves D concerns me

They rotate guys, keep em fresh......and they create turnovers. That will be the key: avoid turnovers and dumb penalties

And that 5 week layoff.....the rust factor. Who shows up with "fire in their belly" ??

Concerns me also, kind of makes me fear another International Bowl type game with how good they play defense.

South Florida might have had the best defensive end duo in the nation that year, and our offense wasn't nearly as good then as it is now. I don't expect 40 on them, but the offense will be fine if they take care of the ball.
