It's nice to see Oregon State volleyball have success early in the season. It seems like all the Pac-10 schools are having early success. Go Beavers!!

Joscelyn Hannaford named tournament MVP.
Sept. 7, 2002
Final Stats
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Three Beavers had double-figure kills to help the Oregon State volleyball team defeat Cal State Northridge in four games (30-15, 25-30, 30-20, 30-26) to wrap up the OSU Volleyball Classic on Saturday night.
OSU improved its record to 5-0, for its best start since 1998, while the Matadors fell to 4-2.
"When we're playing as sharp as we know we can, we know what to expect and know how to beat a team - with our speed, our ball control and our defense," said coach Nancy Somera. "Tonight, we weren't at our sharpest in the areas we rely on, but we still found a way to win. Nobody cares if it's a pretty win. A win is still a win."
Joscelyn Hannaford, who had a double-double with 14 kills and 17 digs against CSN, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. Megan McMillan and Laura Collins also made the all-tournament team. McMillan hit .361 with a career and match-high 18 kills, while Collins picked up her first double-double of the year with 54 assists and 10 digs.
CSN's Liz Naegle, Nadine Nickel and Becky Moores also earned all-tournament recognition.
OSU finished the match hitting .276, led by Michele Solomon's .591 mark on a season-high 13 kills and no errors in 22 attempts. Northridge hit .206 for the night. The Matadors were led by Erica Aere, who tied McMillan's match-high 18 kills.
OSU's Nikki Neuburger led the defensive side of things, digging a match-high 23 balls for a new career-high. The Beavers outdug the Matadors, 75-58.
