I read somewhere that you will be changing your football helmets back to the Pitt style and be referred to as Pitt again, not Pittsburg. Is this true??

I'm certainly not a Pitt fan but what I think is going to happen is the "panther" logo is going to stay but the old "Pitt" phrase is also going to have a place on the logo or helmet....and for those of us who were fans of the old eastern football schools... they always were and will always be "Pitt" to us.... not Pittsburgh

--- I wish Pitt would go back to the football unis seen in this picture...the uniforms of Tony Dorsett and Dan Marino...I really don't care for the new unis/colors that Walt Harris introduced

I too loved the Pitt Script but from what I hear it is a money issue. The Pitt script logo belongs to the University, all proceeds from it go the the schools general fund. Dinocat was owned by the athletic department so all proceeds from licensing fees went to the athletic dept. I hear the new Pitt logo will be block cut letters and will also be owned by the athletic dept, so again the money flows into the athletic budget. If the chancellor was smart he could just transfer the script logo's ownership to the athletic department and be done with it, but I don't see that happening. I personally like the new colors, they actually are closer to the original colors than the ones used in the 70's-90's.

-- I guess that makes some sense....have the new unis been introduced to the public yet? If so...could you post a link if you get a chance...thanks

new unis will be revieled tomorrow.

"The university will unveil its new logo and uniforms Thursday. There have been some reports that the Panthers are returning to the scripted Pitt helmets and old uniforms, but those within the athletic department say the changes will be significant "
