SCST Loss Thread
Can't believe no one is talking about this one. If you missed it you missed a very energetic, fun ball game from the opening tip. We're down by 12 at the half and came back with a strong 2nd half to tie the game and send it to overtime. I don't like to do this, but some (not a lot) of the blame needs to be put on the refs for this game. You can peg it on many things such as our inability to make free throws as a team, or our lapses on defense that led to easy buckets. However, this was the worst officiated game I have seen this season.

Anyways, despite the loss, it was one of the more entertaining games I've seen at the convocation center in my 6 years of going to games. Anyone else catch it?

Sidebar: Delbert Love is going to be a star in this league. If you haven't seen him play, you're missing out.

"Guys who want to compete we're going to continue to play and guys who don't...they're just going to sit on the bench beside us." --Coach Preston in his postgame press conference

WOW!! I love this coach. He's definitely a no BS kind of dude and you can tell he expects excellence. It's still a struggle, but take note folks, the culture of KSU Basketball is changing right before our eyes.

I suppose it could have been Osemhen or Dawson because neither really played much nor did much when they did play. Henry didn't have a good game in my opinion and I feel that it affected his attitude out there on the court based off of some of his body language. Could also be Turner. He played clutch minutes in the overtimes, but I guarantee you if Love didn't foul out he wouldn't have seen the court. Perhaps Sabic, not to say Sabic is worth much to begin with, but he's quickly become an end of the bench guy next to Glover.

RE: SCST Loss Thread
Trust me - I've seen worse officiating, but it was not the greatest tonight. I think the coach is learning a few lessons too as a first timer. A couple of instances that I noticed --

1 - Nick Turner is an up and down shoot first player with average ballhandling skills. But tonight, he played better than Henry. Never the less, after he hit 2 threes, he was pulled for no reason. And it is true that if Love had not fouled out he wouldn't have seen the light of day in the OT ... but if a man can contribute, you have to ride him.

2 - Markeith had 2 fouls early and that put him on the bench for the bulk of the first half. But seriously --- you put him back in with 19 seconds left in that half and our guards turn the ball over trying to lob it to him on an inbounds play? And I haven't mentioned the fact that he could have picked up his 3rd foul.

I love what Preston is doing. He has a few more brick walls to run into (Mizzou and Mizzou State), but with his limited personnel, he can actually give Belmont a great game if they choose to run like Memphis did when they played Belmont. If they let Belmont play a half court game it can get brutal inside.

At least we are entertaining this year!

I really don't think we can give Belmont a game. We are only in their conference but not in their league. We are not sound enough on D, don't have an inside presence on D and turn the ball over too much. If we lose by less than 20, we played a great game.

Good point Mike. Will Ladaris be back for Belmont?

I doubt it. Didn't Heramb not return until January last year? Also, Sewell didn't seem to be active this season either. Maybe he can help too.

Actually Heramb scored 10 points at Belmont last year on 12-16-2010.

RE: SCST Loss Thread
Thanks for posting my stuff. I am hoping to get to a few KSU games this year as I live in Grant Park. It was only my second attempt and I wrote that pretty late, hence some of the poor editing and leaving out of a couple of ands and whatnot. Glad you enjoyed it. If you guys want to do some write ups for Mid Majority as well its cheap to be a member and fun and rewarding to do the write ups.

What did you guys who were at the game think of the Groupon deal? I thought it was an innovative way to try and get more people to come out to the game.
