Same! Almost anyone that "Simon Bar Sinister" has nothing to do with hiring. Their affinity/pattern of obstruction is to stick our teams with hand-picked underachievers with "alabama ties."

The last one worked out so well.
I think the Board approval line is $150,000. Given the unbridled arrogance shown to date, and complete lack of shame, I totally expect the Jr./III/IV clique to either stop the firing or insist on hiring another proven incompetent, like Mike DuBose.
Mike "16 laterals" DuBose???? !!!

Who you got in mind? I saw your post about John Neal, but that's not who you're referring to here, are you?
Nope. I would be happy with Neal, but the guy I think would surprise people has been mentioned on our list.
To the media, it would come out of left field.
This guy I believe, wants the opportunity.
This guy, I would wholly support.

DuBose is another favorite of the Drunken Bear. As of this morning, in the Name of Allah the merciful and just, he is unemployed.
I could see us getting stuck with him.

The Mike DuBose pushed into the HC position at Bama one year after working as a line coach (sound familiar UAB fans?) because the "big money guys" behind the Bama program thought him the new "Bryant" (they flooded Bama's AD Bockrath's FAX machine demanding his hire) has come back up through the ranks of high school coaching and then small college position and head coaching over the past years. He is still not my choice to come to UAB, but he is a coach who has, this time around, won his chance somewhere else on his proven merits. After being stampeded into hiring DuBose over his objections, Bockrath resigned and moved on.

That, in the state of Alabama, is tantamount to taking out an ad that says "I don't want to keep my job at UAB and would really like to be fired!" The last person to do so is now coaching at College of Charleston (I believe) not Auburn where he worked when he complained about Lowder and friends. The system BOT is so politically strong in this state that they can (and have) easily take down anyone as politically weak as a university president. If you doubt it, check on where FORMER UA President Joab Thomas and FORMER UA AD Steve Sloan are working now. These guys do not ever "take prisoners".
Well, I have it on very good authority that someone on the Huntsville campus filed a complaint and that the SACS investigation is in progress. Remember, you don't have to be an administrator to file a complaint, it could be a tenured professor who can't be fired except for cause. Or as was suggested by someone else it could have been done by back channels. It doesn't matter, the investigation is underway. I understand that a similar investigation will cover the BOT's interaction UAB campus, but can't verify that.

Did you notice that Bill Curry was hired in 1987 and both Thomas and Sloan were gone a year later. The system BOT doesn't fool around, does it? As soon as "Hootie" ingram came in after Sloan's departure, he informed Curry that as a reward for his team's 9-2 record, his "buyout" would be slashed substantially. The "handwriting on the wall" kicked in and Curry took the best offer he had to move on immediately rather than risk being fired after a later 6-6 type season like Mike Shula would later suffer.

There is no surer sign of favoritism than how quickly they move to can a coach in tuscaloosa and how slow they are to can one in Birmingham.
