BCS points
So many people have insisted the BE will not lose AQ status in the future. They consistently point to the point evaluation applying to the addition of a 7th conference as an AQ. The last paragraph of the BCS rules state:
"If the BCS continues under the same or a similar format, conferences will be evaluated on their performances during the 2010 to 2013 regular seasons to determine which conferences without bowl contracts will have automatic qualification for the bowls that will conclude the 2014-2017 regular seasons."
The Big East does not have a specific BCS bowl contract, right?
Atlantic Coast Conference-Orange Bowl
Big Ten Conference-Rose Bowl
Big 12 Conference-Fiesta Bowl
Pac-12 Conference-Rose Bowl
Southeastern Conference-Sugar Bowl
The BE is pursuing Boise St for BCS points. If you are striving to gain BCS points, you must need them. It seems to me that the BCS could simpy decide NOT to "BCS continues under the same or a similar format" and exclude the BE and the rest of the nonAQ conferences from the club.
One other little nugget in the rules also:
"* The computations will be made according to the conference's membership on Dec. 4, 2011."
The clock is ticking...

What I've seen, actually, is so many people spending so much energy making the case that the Big East will lose it. Seriously man, does it matter that much?

RE: BCS points
The conference membership provision on Dec 4,2011- that's for a special mini-period between 2012-2013. If the MWC had stuck together with Utah, BYU, and TCU- they would likely have gotten AQ status for these next 2 years.
It'll be membership in 2013 that would determine the 2014-2017 period.

It doesn't matter. If it does it will be due to the continuous failures of the "leadership" if the BE. Seriously, who's running that place?
