Dude! That may have been me: I ran into a Blazer fan in 2004 when I got back from Turkey, and I and my family where at the aquarium for my "welcome home daddy" trip to Chattanooga. I just remember running into a guy wearing a blazer T-shirt and introduced myself with a "Go Blazers" shout-out.

I saw both exhibition games and two regular season games so far. Jakore, hands down has been the best PG. unfortunately for Quincy it's not just the offense. He is getting schooled on defense every game.

That's the biggest problem I've had with QT's play the first three games. Whoever he guards takes the ball into the paint time and time again. The opposition has no problem setting up their offense because there is no pressure on the ball. Jekore is raw and a little undisciplined but at least he will guard people. He is also a threat to score. By the beginning of the second half Troy wasn't even bothering to guard Taylor at the top of their zone.

I'm not sure what is wrong with QT. He was a much better defender and shooter last year. I still feel like he has a lot of potential. We are very fortunate to have picked up Tyler.

Did I say we needed a point guard with confidence. Don't fear, Blazer fans, he is on his way.

I thought he tagged along with Scotland-Williamson from their juco and was going to walk on until Dexter transferred to open a scholarship.

Our two biggest problems right now are:
We are starting a few people who simply cannot defend on the perimeter. Swing and QT are getting blown by at will. When Cams man is on the perimeter he gets beaten as well.
The big one though is that Davis is trying to force players into his system instead of developing a system that best exploits the talents of our players. We need to be playing a zone D so Cam can alter almost all shots in the lane and not be able to be drawn to the three point line where he is a defensive liability. We have several good spot shooters, but we are running them in circles and using our bigs to set screens on the wings when we should be posting Cam and soko and forcing the ball into one of them nearly every possession. We are going to get a lot more open shots off teams double teaming the post than we are going to get with the crap we are running now.

I do agree our offensive sets are crap right now. I'll have to watch Swing's defense at the next game.

Quincy actually runs sets and passes the ball...but you alll are right about his defensive issues.

JT doesn't run sets... he MIGHT look for a screen to use on his way to his off-balance shot from 16 feet. To his credit, he makes quite a few of those (or draws a foul) and he plays better defense.

just my 2 cents.

RE: UAB Troy Thread
After watching the game and from my observations last year QT AND RW cannot shoot at all. Jekore should be the starter. If Quincy was in the game the second half we would have lost. Robert has air balled more shots than he has hit. Our starting line up should no doubt be CAM, SOKO, JEKORE, SWING,PURIFOY/WHITTAKER. If we let these guys get starter minutes, instead of subbing players every couple of minutes, this team could gel and be reallly good. Swing probably needs a little time to heel so we could have purifoy or a big man play his minutes if/when needed.

Small world, huh?

Others may think how in the heck can you remember something from 7 years ago?

Well, if you are in Chattanooga & you see someone else wearing a UAB sweater or shirt you remember it.
