RE: A big problem with the BCS
Here's my dream scenario of what will happen in the National Championship picture. LSU beats Arkansas, they then a lose a close game to Georgia and remain number 1. Alabama gets left out of the championship game ranked number 2 in the nation because the SEC can only have 2 representatives in BCS bowls. LSU and Georgia

I've read (an ESPN writer but I don't remember which one) that the one time when 3 teams from 1 conference can get into the BCS is when the top 2 teams (the BCS championship game teams) are different from the conference champ. It wasn't anticipated and would rarely happen, but it may this year. But if Bama was not in the top 2 AND did not win the conference then they would be left out of the BCS.
What would really be weird would be if team that made it to the SEC champ. game lost to Georgia and then didn't make it to the BCS champ. game because the other two (who didn't win the West) passed them in the BCS standings. Curiouser and curiouser.

Yep. There is a special clause in the BCS that states if the top 2 teams are in the same conference, then the 2 team rule no longer applies.

1. LSU couldn't lose to UGA and stay #1.
2. Why settle? Have LSU win convincingly tomorrow, API win at all Saturday, and then UGA win in Atlanta?
Then you have no $EC teams in the top 3, and an $EC champion who got its ass handed to it at home by Boise.
How's THAT for a scenario?

I don't think there is a chance LSU drops out of the top 2 if they only lose to Georgia in the SEC Championship. The SEC love fest will not allow that to happen. Even if Bama loses Saturday, they'll probably only drop to about 5. If you are in the SEC, all losses can be forgiven because every team in the conference has SEC speed, SEC defense, SEC strength, SEC coaching, SEC size, etc. Like I pointed out before, the discrepancy between the CPUs and the humans is way too large, and human votes still account for the majority of the BCS rankings.

LSU would indeed drop out of the top two, if UGA put a righteous ass-whoopin' on them.
Hey, I was dealing with hypotheticals to start with. Pie in the sky is not that huge a leap.

LSU would drop out of the top 2 if their name was Boise State or Oklahoma State or Wisconsin or Stanford. The fact that they are LSU and play in the SEC destroys any hope I have of them dropping out of the top 2.(unless they lose to Arkansas and still get in the SEC CG and then lose that as well. Perception is everything in college football.)
