It is just juvenile to say you wouldn't help out your neighbors in a natural disaster. I don't want to 'understand' that kind of rivalry. I hope for Mizzou's sake that this guy is not representative of your fans. I can only go by the support this post is receiving over there though and infer that you may have one of the worst fan bases in sports history.

I didn't even read what was linked...but if it had anything to do with the Joplin tornado I can tell you that many KU fans helped the city of
Joplin after the horrific tornado. KU fans have friends and family that live in Missouri and vice versa.

Both Mizzo and Kansas have fans that embarrass our fan base. Unfortunately these fans are the loudest and most persistent voices on the internet.

I know a lot of folks from Mo who drove to Greensburg, KS when the F5 wiped the town off the map. I love a good nasty rivalry, but this is over the top...

John Brown was not America's first terrorist. America's first Navy was bootleggers and pirates. That came long before John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry, prior to the start of the Civil War. America already had nearly 80 years of terrorist activity prior to that. But since the government was doing it, we didn't call it terrorism...

Yeah, this makes Mizzou look small, IMHO. Not cool at all. If I was a Missouri fan this would embarrass me. As an outsider this piece makes it look like the Tigers care about Kansas a little too much if you know what I mean. The bit about not helping in a natural disaster lacks perspective. It's Penn Stateish in that way.

Look, I love rivalries as much as the next guy and I understand that Mizzou-KU is a uniquely spirited game based on your Civil War hostitlities, but it is now 2011 and it's only football, man.

Good luck in the SEC! I think both programs will be just fine and hopefully in a decade or so - after all of the anger subsides - you two can resume your annual game in Kansas City.

I do agree with the point the writer made though about rivalries being even more intense when little is on the line. That is why I will always maintain that Army/Navy is the best rivalry in American sports. Those two schools haven't played a nationally significant game in 50 years and yet that game is still nationally televised and trust me when I tell you that it is still an impossible ticket to get. People can talk about Duke/North Carolina, Ohio State/Michigan and Auburn/Alabama all they want, for my money the best rivalry in college athletics is/was/always will be Army/Navy.

John Brown's side won the Civil War. He was an abolitionist, which was the northern cause. So I guess he gets a pass too...

If any Big Ten leaders were privately questioning their decision to let Mizzou slip through their fingers, posts like this will put those questions to bed.

I agree because we all know the schools of the b10 are a high minded group with wonderful morals.
