Look at it this way Waco....I know WVU is way behind on the history factor when compared to the other eastern Indys...Notre Dame, Army, Navy, Pitt and Syracuse all blow our football tradition out of the water...I remember how much Penn St looked down on us and literally beat us into the ground in football on a yearly basis....but that doesn't mean I think WVU isn't as good or better football program now then all of the other schools I mentioned....we are talking history in this thread not present or future

I'm just not impressed with the "tradition" of TCU, Colorado State, and others. When I think of UC growing into a national player I think Virginia Tech, Pitt, Wisconsin, Kansas State, or even West Virginia as models. I don't look at TCU or Colorado State and think "damn, if UC can catch up to their unbelievable tradition we can win!"

That's because TCU and Colorado State don't have a football tradition. You are right, if these schools have a football tradition, so does UC.

Bingo! TCU had a couple of nice runs, but so what? If UC gets hot over the next year or two and make a run at the Top 25 guess what? UC will be mentioned in the same breath as TCU and Colorado State. Don't believe me? Look what happened with Miami-OH, Boise State, Fresno State and others who had a big run. You're right Waco, UC's tradition is just as good as TCU if you look at it that way. If UC makes a run to, say, the Gator Bowl or Insight.com Bowl this year and finish in the Top 25 they'll mention UC more then they mention TCU and others. Your tradition can't be that strong if one or two good seasons allows a program to be mentioned in the same breath, or on a higher level, this your program.

You have to look at what a school has done over the last 10 year's Cat's Claw and TCU/Colorado State/BYU have played at a far higher consistant level. In fact, they've played on a level beyond anything UC has ever done in football which has never had a 10 win season. TCU has been a little bit up and down but they do have some 10 win seasons in recent years, with enoromus upside.

UC does have some tradtion aren't you guys just the 5th oldest Football program, a few short years after Rutgers and Princeton. There's alot more history to your FB program than people realize for that reason alone. If any team belongs in an eastern conference from the midwest its UC, they fit quite nicely with us I think. I really can't wait for a Rutgers - Cincinnati Rivalry in FB. In BB that'll certainly be the hammer hitting the nail. Maybe Fred Hill, Jim Carr, Gary Waters can finally get us a high-quality BB team sooner than later.

Thanks for sharing what the MWC Commish had to say. The Big East definately can not rest easy just because were safe through 2007. The MWC is making strides to improve and C-USA is doing some nice things as well. The BE just stood up to the best puch the ACC could deliver and we are still standing. Ya, the MWC has gained a lot of ground on the BE, but now that we have regained our footing, and hopefully a whole lot smarter, the BE can again begin to distance itself from the MWC & C-USA. All is not lost. However, with ND getting a peice of the BCS pie, we will have to be looking welsewhere to get better. ND isn't going to do squat to pull it's share for the BE. Schools like Uconn are going to get better. Uconn has invested $2 billion dollars to get the job done. How many other schools can say the same? It will not take long for Uconn to be the power in the Northeast. Uconn will soon have a lot to offer football prospects. Top to bottom, the BE schools have to invest in getting better. We have the resources to get it done and I have faith we will.
