Some Love for Chuck Ealey
Quote:Brown infuriated most of us by referring to the Huskies repeatedly as “Northern Illi-noise” (egad). One of the early ESPN graphics at Toledo read “UNI scoring drive” (more egad, I mean can’t the guys in the production truck see the NIU logos on our helmets?). Lamont added two historic comments from the Glass Bowl press box: First: “The MAC is known as the ‘Cradle of Coaches.’” (Isn’t that Miami’s trademark?) and second: “Wide receiver Eric Page is the best player ever to wear the Toledo uniform.” Tim, Page is a stud, but ever hear of UT quarterback Chuck Ealey in 1969-71, who led the Rockets to three straight MAC titles and 35 consecutive victories?

Or Mel Long or Curtis Johnson or...but Page is in the conversation. You UNI Russkies can certainly attest to that.

Eric page plays a less important position, but he already is the best WR to ever play at Toledo, and he still has one more year. For now chuck is still better but by the end of next season, after Toledo goes 14-0 and wins the national title Eric could be in that conversation as well. I have high expectations04-cheers

RE: Some Love for Chuck Ealey
For just under a quarter and a half last night, the guys doing the game on ESPN2 kept referring to the BG QB as Matt Schitz. Somebody must have called in because they abruptly changed it to Schilz with about 10 minutes left in the 2nd Qtr. At least I didn't have to listen to Rayguy gushing about Jerry Boo Boo Gates and throwing out a dozen "Opa Locka Florida"'s when I cut over to that game after yet another score or booth replay in the Toledo game.
