Why Is Mizzou So Special Now?
I understand that we will owe the Big XII a hefty exit fee. My problem is that CU and NU walked for less than 1o million. They ended the Big XII Championship Game by doing this. Now, because of some numbers game, we are responsible for the complete collapse of the Big XII's TV deals.

I don't see it that way. We should negotiate a fair exit fee, comparible to others that have left. So sue us...courts tend to look at precedent. I did not read in the by-laws where we were responsible for saving the league...just paying our way out. It should be the Big XII's responsibility to make itself viable and preserve it's contracts. I am sure they can invite eager and deserving schools to take our place... even go up to 12. Like the logo they carry...

Lets put this Expansion Version 2011 right where it belongs. Let's begin: Out of nowhere A&M decides to leave, Big XII forms expansion committee to replace A&M. The OU prez stands up in the middle of this and announces proudly that they are exporing their options and have several options. Texas does the same thing. Expansion is immediately suspended. The committee, headed by the Mizzou Chancellor, probably had BYU, and at least one or two more quality schools committed at the time. Other "non-important" schools in the conference panic and freak out. Mizzou is one of them. SEC likes us. Other schools plans fail....ours don't. Thats about it. Oh yes, I will take credit for giving NU an excuse to join the B1G last year...like they weren't looking...sure.

Don't get me wrong. If OU, or UT, or anyone else has a better deal, so be it... Its school #1 and conference #2 on the priority list. It should be. I am happy for A&M and would have been happy for UT or OU. Just don't make us the villian here. Everyone has to do what's best for their school.

That said, if we have to stay for a year to help out WVU, that's fine. The SEC has planned well, and our seat at the table will be there. They made two schedules planning for this. That little "accidental" press release told me all I needed to know. We are in. So, if you wanna take a chance on us winning the Big XII in our lame duck year, I am game. Don't laugh. Look who is graduating and who is not.

Really kind of ashame, as I really wouldn't have minded staying with the new schools and all, but I think Mizzou was just too far out the door when the PAC thing fell apart and UT/OU decided to stay. By the way, that would have been a terrible move for people who turn in early... Could as easily have been us looking for a spot in the BE or MWC... Okay...how much will the Big XII charge for a bus ticket? Thanks to you all for letting me vent. I enjoy everyone's opinion here 04-cheers04-rock
