Mizzou waiting on WVU?
http://www.dailymail.com/Sports/WVUSports/201111030160

Quote:The Big 12 has to keep Mizzou in the fold until WVU is sure it can bolt the Big East in time for the 2012-13 year. Otherwise, the Big 12's pending, $1.17 billion (13 years) second-tier telecast contract with Fox doesn't fly - because the league wouldn't have 10 teams.

So, Mizzou stays in the Big 12 as the 10th team, until the Big 12 is sure West Virginia is able to extricate itself from the Big East and replace the Tigers as the 10th, Fox-fulfilling school. The Big 12 then says thanks and goodbye to Mizzou by reducing the exit amount, and the SEC does a formal invite.

Which leads me to ... The SEC has said nothing - nothing - about inviting Missouri as the 14th member ... perhaps because the Tigers might be playing in the Big 12 next season if WVU can't move.

Seems to me the best case scenario for all involved would be for the SEC to play one season at 13, and then all the moves happen for the 2013 season.

RE: Mizzou waiting on WVU?
After a lot of watching and reading I don't think the SEC commish has the votes to give MU an invite yet. Guess telling the SEC they are second best but you will accept an invite from them as long as the BIG 10 isn't making you an offer may not be the best strategy to use when trying to get into the conference.

If they move to the SEC you guys need to understand if the B1G calls they are gone. There has been a rumor almost every year going back to the Big 8 days about MU and the B1G.

It was the same way with Colorado and the PAC its always been known if Colorado got a chance to go to the PAC they would be gone. Nebraska was a shock.

MU is in a funny bind at the moment. If the SEC doesn't get them invited this year they are either locked into the Big 12 for 6 years or an independent. My personal opinion is if WVU manages to get out in 2012 they are bound for the SEC and MU is left standing at the alter once again. Reason being WVU loves the idea of being in the SEC it's their first choice. They fit, 100% of their fan base wants them there and if they get in no chance they leave. They have better athletics than MU to boot. If WVU can get out by the 2013 season I'm still betting they go to the SEC over MU. MU in my opinion is something the SEC is looking at to avoid playing a 13 team schedule. If they can't do that then why would the SEC take them over a superior program that's a better geographic and cultural fit?

I think the Big 12 invited WVU because they are an excellent athletic school that can and will help the conference. I also think they realize the invite and attempt to get them out in 2012 would put other possibilities into play. Which could keep MU in the big 12. I'm sure the Big 12 would love to keep both of them but I don't see that happening. Either way the Big 12 wins.

Who knows what is going to happen at the end of the day. TCU walked without playing a game in the BE. Its all a big mess and you can bet there is some gamesmanship going on at the highest level at the moment.

Yeah, Mizzou is screwed just like the Big East is screwed. Neither has any options left and both will soon fade into the wilderness.

Well being an OK State fan I can see your issues here regarding Mizzou. Sorry, but yes, we have the votes. The SEC is very patient and will wait. They have much more class than to put us out on a limb like this. They straight told WVU "NO"...Trust me...it's done. They have zero reason to rush this. They made a 13 and 14 game schedule. They know how to plan. Had you been able to put your "other Oklahoma school" in a box and stop this PAC 12 charade we would still be here. Sorry, but that's just the truth here. I do enjoy the debate and know we are all passionate here. I also like OSU and wish them well this year. Probably a BSC Championship team.
