Let's look at their '13 sched and what to do with each game:
@Indiana-Keep
Deleware-Buy out
@WKU-Buy out
Air Force-Could be conference
@Duke-Buy out/keep if Army's a conference game
@Toledo-Buy out
Pitt-Keep
Notre Dame-Keep
Hawaii-Buy out
South Alabama-Buy out
@SJSU-Buy out
Army-Keep and could possibly be conference

It'll take a lot of maneuvering, but its do-able.

It's Navy... you don't buy out their schedule... They've got what is called "integrity"

There would be nothing wrong with them compensating those schools for those games IMO. I guess my question is...who pays for this?

As far as championship game- if they had been able to get to 12 teams for next year(last year of existing TV deal)- they could have sold the rights for the 2012 game a la carte.

I think if they go to 14- one of the teams at least has to be BYU out west. Boise, BYU, Air Force, SMU, Houston, Memphis, Louisville? Then east would be UConn, Rutgers, Cincy, Navy, USF, UCF, eastern team.

Yeah I guess you are correct....both the BB and FB contracts expire after the 2012/2013 academic year.....so Big East BB in 2013 will still be under the current contract but not the football that year.

I always heard the contract expires in 2013 which made me think it included the 2013 season.

So yeah....the BE pretty much needs everyone in place in 2013 or they will have to negotiate each year of the contract differently with changed membership.

According to what I have been able to find...most of Navy's budget in fact does not come from public funds but from the NAAA( Naval Academy Athletic Association) which funds all but 10% of it's budget through a variety of private sources( TV, merch, donations, ticket sales..ect )

I also thought that the taxpayers funded Navy to a greater extent than 10%.

Yup operate as a 10 school, 9 game round robin for 2 years. Then move to the 12 or 14 school, 8 - 9 game model after that.

Don't think Boise will come to play if there's no western division where they only would have to come east 1-2 times.... Even if it's for only 1-2 years....

Nope. If anything, I pay more for Texas to travel and play Oklahoma than I do Navy.

You would pretty much have to I mean Texas is a very big State but it pales to the entirety of the population of the whole country...of course that wasn't your point but it is also true.

The current Big East TV contract expires in the Spring of 2013, meaning after basketball season. In the fall of 2012, the Big East will begin negotiating for a new contract, which starts with the 2013 football season.

As for not having a championshiop game in 2013 and 2014, so what? Two seasons of 10 teams playing an 8-game schedule will not be the end of the world. Longterm planning and true integrity are more important.

If the ACC can wait on Syracuse & Pitt, we can wait on Navy (if we have to). It's not a deal breaker.
