Non Texas Big XII TV network?
Has there been any talk about the other schools banding together to form their own network? That would seem like a natural step

RE: Non Texas Big XII TV network?
It was mentioned once but I haven't heard anything else about it. I think it will probably come up again. OU and Texas don't like the idea but I don't think that will stop it from happening. The other schools with the addition of WVU just have to much to offer. I think it will end up making more for each school than the horns or sooners with their independent tier 3 networks. Who knows the sooners may waffle and decide they want credit for the idea of starting a conference network. Right now I'm pretty sure the pokes are driving the idea if they get behind it with all their heart it will happen. They are the quiet power player in the Big 12. The pokes can put political pressure on OU and Texas if they want something to happen bad enough. OU and Texas hate it as much as they hate the construction going on in stillwater but can't change it or stop it. Boone has made it good to be a O State fan in many ways.

The network won't happen until the 2013 season though.

I definitely think a Big 12 Network would be a natural step, would love to see it happen.

RE: Non Texas Big XII TV network?
With all of the other schools banding together, I believe we'd get enough penetration in the key markets to make it viable. The reality is that a Big 12 network without Texas & OU signed on would still have a ton of inventory. It would carry all 3rd tier games between those members as well as any 3rd tier games between those members and Texas & OU which are hosted by those members. That's more than enough to get a good network going.

The only thing it wouldn't have is games hosted by Texas & OU. Most of those are going to be 1st & 2nd tier games anyway so they don't matter.

Makes a lot of sense to me. As we learned with the mtn, the growing pains of a new sports network can be painful. Strength in numbers can help.

RE: Non Texas Big XII TV network?
Here is a little more info about a possible Big XII TV network for the schools who won't have their own networks. It looks like an expansion piece but keep reading.

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/story/...einas-says

One of the more interesting points in this is that we will not be able to call our network the Big XII Network. Why, I do not know, nor does it say, other than for contractual reasons. What other name could we come up with for a network featuring Texas Tech, Okie State, Baylor TCU, WVU, Kan, Ia. St. and K. St.?
