Why? Because he's from Tuscaloosa? All the more reason for him to steer clear of it and let them continue to defecate on UAB athletics.

Good idea, except for one thing, how much of an effort did we as UAB sports fans put into helping them try to save their hockey team? One hand washes the other...Just saying...

I have in my hands the actual business plan along with other documentation that was presented to the Board of Trustees. (Don't ask how I got it) I am forwarding to the media. We will see what happens. The plan is lock tight rock solid.

"if you see a good fight...get in it." - the Reverend Vernon Johns...

Please keep me abreast of any and all efforts...I host a jazz program at Blazeradio on Sundays, but guess what? I'll be glad to use some of that air time to address this issue with a special talk show for any of you to call in and express yourselves about this, not just on the campus of UAB, but around the world, this is internet radio. The world's gonna be listening if you're interested. Just let me know.

I'm involved in this one.

If I'm not mistaken, his name is Justin Knox. I remember that story, still mad as hell about that, but at the same time, UAT allowed a female basketball player to transfer to UAB, Jocelyn Shaw, I believe is her name.

Not that I'm not glad to have her, but do they have a separate rules regarding transferring from their wretched school to UAB according to player gender, or is this just more of the old double standard synonymous with that institution of higher excrement?

RE: Contacts to Show Support for UAB
I just took an email run at Mayor Bell. Pending GM approval and technical assistance in the station, I invited him to be a guest on a special Blazeradio open forum about the OCS, to take on questions from myself and from any of you who may log on and tune in, phone calls will be invited and taken, if a computer is accessible there, email questions and comments will be welcomed as well.

Is this a feasible idea with y'all? Let me know, please.

This is a great idea. He could be one the most powerful allies we have in this fight. Good Job!

I sent the info I had to Kevin Scarbinsky last night but I got the impression from him they had not seen everything I sent him, most likely not in time for his column today. He said he is taking this very seriously and they will look at everything we can get them.

Send requests to this guy.

Charles Robinson w/ yahoo Sports. He has brought down several heavy hitters.
WindyCityScribe@yahoo.com here and

http://sports.yahoo.com/top/feedback?aut...s+Robinson

and here use both. This is the guy we need to go after them.

RE: Contacts to Show Support for UAB
My point on the race card is simply illustrating to city and state government as well as the media that your minority enrollment will go in the tank and the loss of 85 football scholarships really is a loss of 85 opportunities for young, mostly African American men to have an opportunity to create a better life for themselves and their families. Jesse and Al get on my nerves as much as the next guy, maybe it's someone in the Black community that garners more respect that needs to take the lead on this, but it's a fair statement. I saw what happened at ETSU when Stanton/Mullins killed football. That campus turned biscuit flour white in a hurry.

Dan Brooks @SportsbyBrooks
Pat Forde @yahooforde
Clay Travis - Don't know how much he'll help, but runs the site outkickthecoverage.com and is all things southern football. @claytravisbgid
Pete Thamel - New York Times @PeteThamelNYT covers college sports on a national scale.

There's no excuse for what's going on here.

Someone should try to get in touch with Arnold

I'd rather have him than when they had Charlie Sheen in Tuscaloosa

RE: Contacts to Show Support for UAB
IIRC, the Governor appoints all of the trustees in the state on both Alabama System and Auburn System's boards. Turning up the heat in Montgomery is probably your best shot.

It probably also wouldn't hurt to contact ACHE, the Alabama Commission for Higher Education, as one of their responsibilities includes facilities planning. ACHE's phone number is 334-242-1998.
