Some of the Houston and UCF fans are a lot more obnoxious. Really surprising seeing as UCF laid an egg this season.

We're pulling for you.

It actually makes sense for Memphis to make the move. The BE will be a basketball conference, and that is all most of you guys care about anyway.

One of many classic posts by TOGC...

(09-29-2009 10:10 AM)TOGC Wrote:  Memphis has spent the last few years improving the facilities for the non-revenue sports like baseball, softball, ect. and has finally committed to spending more money on football now that Coach Cal has bolted for UK. He was making $3M per year (and was promised $4M if he stayed). With new Coach Pastner only making $800K, several million have been freed up to improve the football program. New locker rooms at the Liberty Bowl have been added, a new weight room is on the books, a new indoor practice facility is on the books, and a new practice field is on the books. At the end of the season, we'll have a new coach too.
But keep on thinking that we're in a tizzy just because some anonymous caller spread a rumor on a radio show. We'll be the ones laughing when the BCS invitation is extended to Memphis.

I love the comments about football. Priceless

You have to have some money to keep your football program on life support.

And every word of it is true. We did spend that money upgrading our facilities. And we're currently in conversations with the Big East--again.

I personally hope No One accepts an invitation from the Big East. I'd love for them all to say "No Thanks We're Good"

Yeah, because turning down all that extra money would be a good idea.

You think joining the Big East will help Memphis? ...... when Louisville, Uconn, Rutgers & Cincinnati all leave the big east will become the New C-USA and the money from the AQ will go away and we're right back where we are now.

Since TOGC has his own thread here, I thought I would move some of his classic posts to this thread. Enjoy....

But since we're making moves to join a BCS that won't be necessary.
