New name will be...TOO BIG EAST

Mike Decoursey (Sporting News BB columnist) used that on the radio this morning.

I think you guys will get 10 in one year, but there will be a backlash in the media and amongst coaches and you won't get it again.

I don't think 10 is possible. 8, maybe. But 10 would be ridiculous, even with as many great programs as the BE will have.

I say the most we get in will be 7 at the most. Other conferences have their bids plus those mid majors like Gonzaga are improving and getting into the tournament.

getting only 7 would be a disaster since the BE got 6 in this past yr with only 12 schools....and by BE standards last yrs bball was medicore

Talk about mid-major, USF won't have to worry about it.

Calling USF mid-major would be a slap in the face to mid-majors...

Early Prediction for the Upcoming Season:

Schools I see having a very difficult time make the 2006 Big Dance:

USF
Providence
Marquette
DePaul
Seton Hall
St. John's
Rutgers

I will honestly be pretty surprised if any of those 7 made it. I'm certainly not going out on a limb with my picks, although DePaul has made the NCAA and then was darn close the last 2 years but I see a major down year coming up.

I say these make it for sure:

UConn
Nova
UofL
Syracuse
UC

With numerous wins over the top list of teams, WVU and Georgetown will make it as well.

ND and Pitt will battle to the last weekend for the chance at an 8th spot. It'll depend how they do in MSG as to whether we get an 8th team in.
