RE: Remaining '12 prospects
Avery would be huge. Just wonder where that scholarship is coming from?

Pokely. His GPA makes him eligible for an academic scholarship. And likely as not he'll get beat out by either Richie or Hoerdemann for time off the bench.
You heard it here first.

RE: Remaining '12 prospects
I'm all for WMU getting creative to bring in a player the caliber of Avery. I don't think they should necessarily make a habit of it, but if you can get Pokely on an acedemic, what's the big deal. Im sure teams get creative all the time.
I hate to say it, but the elephant in the room is that Pokely was lucky to get a D1 scholarship to begin with. It was probably a mistake. Not saying he isn't a good kid, but the realities are, Hawk and crew are paid to win basketball games and graduate players. He does a good job at both, but if you can increase your talent level, and not really hurt the kids educational opportunity. Why not?

I've gotta believe Hawk and his staff have some kind of plan lined up for how they could bring in Avery. If Avery decides to commit that is.

Pokely was a Plan B. Sound player, but he's not going to get much better. Richie and Hoerdemann have far more upside.
BP's real value to the team is his high GPA raises the aggregate GPA for the team. If he can get an academic scholy he can be a team member and add value, while openning up a scholy for another big.

Anybody can read without their glasses!
Just not accurately.
No harm no foul.
I read it twice thinking I read this before. I linked it at least once here over the last 6 months or so regarding potential prospects and thought I was having deja vue all over again.

RE: Remaining '12 prospects
Wasn't there talk during the Steve Green years of a switch from athletic to academic scholarship?
Seems like the NCAA does not allow that if the athlete continues to play the sport.
