Per Zeisse: The future of the BYB is n doubt
I posted this on the ACC main board. However, it may be better to put something here too. Per Zeisse, it appears the Pitt brass prefers a long term annual series with ND or PSU instead of committing an OOC game to WVU. I would prefer to see WVU fall off the schedule if it ND or PSU becomes a guaranteed annual game. Most likely, it would be ND because I think PSU will never play Pitt annually long term again.
Quote:** I've had several people ask me about the future of Pitt-WVU in football. Here is what I can gather - it is on life support to say the least. Apparently the belief is that the ACC will go to nine conference games which only leaves three non-conference spots for each team to fill. The Panthers will keep two of those spots for the "rent-a-win" opponents so they can ensure two home games (and wins) each year from their non-conference game. And that leaves only one spot and the powers that be would love for that spot to be filled by the series with Notre Dame or the pipe dream of getting Penn State back. That doesn't leave much, if any room, for games against WVU, if even for two-year stretches here and there. I hope that this can be worked out because Pitt-WVU is a great game that should be played every year but that doesn't seem to be where things are headed.
