RE: 6th Bronco Signee
This guy seems like a really good get, and I would just like to tip my hat to Coach Farmer. He has shown to be an excellent coach getting our current bigs to excel, he showed last season to be a coach that Coach Hawkins respects and listens to (which paid dividends throughout the year) and now showing he can recruit top talent to come and play in Kalamazoo. I have no worries about Paul's motor, as I believe Coach Farmer will have it running on high octane within a year off setting foot on campus. Way to go Coach Farmer, I am really glad that you are part of the Bronco Nation!

Laku. Kendrick. BP.

Players offered scholarships when one "suddenly opened up" at the end of the year.

See any pattern?

Yes I agree with the above BUT also note the Matt Stainbrook commit was in April of his senior year.

Yes he was.

FWIW...there was an open scholarship then and the staff had been working hard to fill it for months.

The other ships opened at the last minute.

As I recall WMU was trying very hard to land a player who's name escapes my steadily deteriorating memory. He ended up going somewhere else, so we instead extended his scholy offer to Pokely. BP's coach was ex UM player Dugan Fife and he extolled BP's work ethic to either Hawks or Coach Mac, whoever was HC at that time.

Esss, GB or Chipdip-what's your read on Jared Klein? How'd he play in AAU ball this year? Will he come in as ready to play as Hoerdemann?

I have never seen him. I am the Helen Keller of the group.

From what I read he is reasonably athletic, good in the open court and excels at getting others involved.

Frankly Hoerdemann surprised me. Always a good shooter, translating to the ability to score. That was early on. Very highly touted very early on. Later, more physically mature kids began to pass him up pr so in the eyes of recruiters and evaluators. The schools that were reportedly "interested" went from U of I to ISU to Eastern Illinois. Not a plumb line but an indication of what those who are paid to make these evaluations were thinking.

In the end it falls on the kid and the staff that has him. I always wanted to a 100m dash guy. As I matured I would only qualify for "with a piano on the back" division. But darn fast for that category. Otherwise pedestrian. But I could also run forever.

If Klein is MAC ready he'll push for time. MAC ready PG's make a huge difference. They drive the O and can stymie the opposition at the point of attack on D. That will also be the measuring stick to determine minutes for Hoerdemann .

Many thanks GB. Klein reportedly has been doing a lot of summer work with the Bronco players. You have to believe that will help the transition and remove the 'awe of the speed/strength' that most recruits have coming in.

You can't have enough good PG's in Div 1A basektball.

Hence my vociferous out cry for Kennis White. Good enough to be a Bronco last year but couldnt qualify.

Again, next year has the potential to be very good. But the key loss is Mikey. Cut the head off and the body dies. The body will be less too with the losses of Demetrius and Flen. Not diminishing their roles, but the O starts in the PG's hand and the PG is at the point of attack on D.

But if Richie and Hoerdemann can tag team the 1 some as combo guards you can ease Jared into a growing role. Also, though pure speculation, if Harris is the defender it is reported, with his length, getting up to speed with his teammates he can the perimeter stopper or at least prepped to be so. Let the O come later for him. If he can take a Ziegler or Scaife or Copper a little out of their comfort zone then you have achieved an advantage.

Any knowledge why he wasn't brought in next year? With two years in JC's he'd have even'd out our recruiting class. I'm a big KW fan as well.

Likely Hawk felt with who he was able to secure for next year and with what he is seeing now he is comfortable.

Kennis likely would have been a spring signee considering he was yet to graduate with an Associates and without that in hand he is was "iffy".

Secure what you can now and deal with that opportunity later if it still exists.
