I could be wrong but I think not enough of those state politicians think highly enough of the Bearcats' fb to push for the 1-1 deal. I can live with a 2-1 deal if the game is played annually.

The way I see it, is that not until UC finally starts to sign 1-1 deals with other BCS teams, will the OSU people pay enough respect to UC for the home and home series.

Someone mentioned the OSU AD's comments about scheduling UC bball in the future. I'm hoping the bball program continues to thrive so that our AD can use it as a leverage to help fb's scheduling.

SO#1 Wrote:State budget usually don’t pass without compromises. You telling me there are no UC alum as state representative in Columbus. How about representative from Cincinnati? Doesn’t he/she see the economic benefit? There should be enough out there to prevent any state budget to pass with out their votes.
2/3's of the state houses are Buckeye fans, so yes, there aren't a whole lot of compromises. OSU is playing games against in state schools every year, so they view that as economic benefit. Plus, in the long run, they see 100,000 fans at OSU or 67,000 at UC... so why would they force OSU to play at UC every other year? I'm sorry to say but that game is not going to happen any time soon...

I really don't think UC needs to play OSU every year. I think its been great just the way it is. The one for three has worked out well.
The next arrangement is 2 for 1...be patient. When OSU visits the next time it will only be the 2nd time ever they have played away from home against and in-state school and it will be in Cincy both times. With ND set to appear on occasional future schedules I'm not sure we would want both in the same year anyway. UL, WVU and Pitt along with Miami Ohio will offer very tough schedules annually
with a lot of local interest. It would be great to get a Kentucky, Indiana, Purdue on a random schedule basis to mix in. NC State
appears for a home and home in a couple years besides.

Are you sure? I haven't heard anything about that. If they have, hopefully UC can get someone like Michigan State, Iowa, Arkansas or Wisconsin on the schedule.

UC Football is rising....Dantonio is perfect for UC and is the man to take them to the next level. The problem UC faces is fan support.......a good crowd for UC is 25,000. A few games over the last 10 years saw fan attendance reach in the low 30's for a game or two but overall, a good crowd is still only around 25,000. The Big East should really help get attendance up esp. for like Pitt and West Virg. (albeit those two schools will bring a lot of fans and thus account for larger attendance) but none the less....there needs to be a general mind set change around the Queen City concerning UC football. Overall right now, it's just not in the public psyche. UC basketball is always a popular topic, Reds, Bengals, XU basketball ( 03-puke ) but not uc football. Winning takes care of this but UC has been winning. They have been to several bowl games over the last few years -yes- minor ones but bowl games none the less and support from the city is still not there. Maybe coing to a major bowl would do it? I don't know. I do know Dantonio is and will cont. to do a good job recruiting local stars (finally) and this will help with attendance as well. Overall, UC football is rising and I believe fan support will rise with it. I would like to see UC football get to the point of 36,000 every game and then have to add onto Nippert...maybe take it up to 45,000 + and then we could have a "Boston College" type program. Anyway, this is how I see it. Go Bearcats!!!

[QUOTE]

Comparing UofL "getting it done with UK" is not the same as UC and O$U.......O$U is monster football program as you know...their athletic budget is something like 60m/year (compared to UK's which is in the 50's) and OSU is taking their athletic budget to 80m/year compared to UC's which will be around 37m/yr in Big East. Simply put, OSU calls the shots. Those gutless wonders only play us in football bc they know UC would kick their a$$'s in basketball in most years. Actually, OSU is now talking about UC basektball series...now that they have Thad Motta, a tremendous recruitnig class lined up and UC is spiraling down with Huggins etc. So I'm not surprised. Actually, in basketball, we don't need OSU or the Big Ten now that we play in the Big East so I would tell them, no thanks. But anyway......O$U and football can and do do whatever they want. I remember a few years ago, UC's sched. was already made for football and at the last second, OSU, needing another puss home game asked Houston to come play them on the same day they were scheduled to play UC. Houston, wanting the bigger pay out did this and it was so late in the year that UC had to scramble and all they could ge was a 1-AA school. That is how classless OSU is. I hate them. Go Cats!!
