Is the Mac about to lose a couple teams?
Will any team from the MAC join this conference?

Marshall
UAB
Tulane
Southern Miss
Memphis
Temple
Florida International
Tulsa
East Carolina
Louisiania Tech

The remanents of CUSA will probably going after a few MAC members. Does some jump?

Not happening. The remnants of C-USA (assuming Houston, SMU and UCF bolt for the BE) will look to the south, not the MAC. No one will likely be asked, and even so, even less likely to jump.

NIU is going independent! 02-13-banana Oh wait. We tried that once and didn't work out so well. I don't think NIU would join that group of teams. Too much travel for not enough money.

I don't think so. Heck I have heard that CUSA asked several other MAC teams to go previously and they said no so I doubt they change their mind now. The exceptions would be the teams with little history here such as Temple and UMass which may jump though I don't think they would jump for that either.

The Boston Globe has a very interesting article about the leftovers from the BE joining the CUSA/MW merger.

Big East, MWC, C-USA considering super conference?

In the 32-team format, the West Division would consist of Boise State, Hawaii, UNLV, Nevada, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State and San Jose State.

The Mountain Division would consist of Air Force, Wyoming, Colorado State, New Mexico, UTEP, SMU, Tulsa and Houston.

The Central Division would consist of Marshall, Memphis, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, UAB, Rice, Temple and Louisiana Tech.

And the Big East Division would consist of Louisville, UConn, Rutgers, Cincinnati, South Florida, Central Florida, East Carolina and Navy. West Virginia is not included in this plan, with the assumption being the Mountaineers would be headed to the Big 12 to replace Missouri which will presumably wind up in the SEC along with Texas A&M.

What is the buyout amount if a MAC team wanted to leave? Probably not worth it to move to CUSA, even before their best teams get cherry-picked.

The BE can't even keep Villanova in check. How are they going to manage that conglomerate?

32 teams? When does it stop being a conference and start becoming a seperate division. 16 is really pushing the # of teams you can fit into a season and still determine who plays for top bowls but 4 times that amount is just stupid. Assuming you can fit in 8 conference games per year that could mean that you wouldn't play people in your own conference once every four years, and this is considering no divisional implications. It could be more like every 6-7 years depending on how you choose division winners etc...

It is a division - it would be the "non-BCS division".

seriously - is more mediocre a better value than less mediocre?

RE: Is the Mac about to lose a couple teams?
The only team that the MAC could loose is Temple. Even then that would only happen if a BE invite comes. I doubt that it would be worth paying the $2m buy-out for some form of C-USA or a merged MWC alliance.

Frankly, I don't see how this merger would benefit the BE in any way. The BE does not need to take twenty plus mediocre football programs to get to the six or seven that it wants.

CeMIC should definitely be there!

After barely surviving (2-6) Buffalo's comeback, NoILL is rejected by the non-BCS division for not having distinguished itself enough to be part of the mediocre division.

The mediocre division almost accepted NoILL, but then realized it was Northern Illinois that was applying - and not Northern Iowa.
