RE: Marshall D targeting Keenum?
Gale and company will get a good look at our backup QB. He will have the chance to try and keep Turner from scoring the 60th point

Good.

Play with some attitude boys. Hopefully Keenum isn't as much of a pansy as the fanbase is.

Trust me. We've read the Herald-Dispatch article. It's even more inflammatory than the Yahoo article.

It's very clear that Marshall's goal is that Houston loses Keenum during the game to injury and that Houston is forced to play with the backup QB.

One kid says "Nothing dirty but" and that excuses 3 kids going off about how they want to kill the head of the snake and "put out" one of the best QBs in the nation because UH doesn't have a backup to compare to him???

It really puts Doc Holliday's press conference into context, where he said, "It's amazing what a great QB can do. They had all the same skill people last year and 3 SR OL and won 5 games. Plug Case Keenum in their offense and now they're 6-0 and leading the country in yards per game."

Sounds to me like Holliday has it figured out. Houston is not as good a team without Keenum. So he has instructed his defensive players (3 of whom were confortable enough to share the gameplan with a local columnist) to knock Keenum out of the game and make Houston play without him.

If there is even one borderline cheap shot tomorrow, there is no way to sugarcoat any of this.

I'm sure the league office, the game officials, and a sold out crowd will be watching how Marshall executes its defensive gameplan very closely.

blah blah blah. Every defense tries to knock out every quarterback every game. If you don't know that you don't watch a lot of football.

Again, did any of you Houston folks watch the wvu/'cuse game? What was 'cuse's gameplan? It was to hit Geno Smith early and often. Nothing cheap, nothing late, just hit him as hard as you can every chance you get. It worked.

You can keep defending them all you want, it doesn't change the fact that what they said was stupid. I can understand Marshall wanting to rattle Keenum, but they worded themselves VERY poorly, plain and simple.

Like CougarRed said, everyone is going to have an eye on you now. And a word of advice to any Marshall fans that make the trip to Houston, for your own good I would hope there aren't any cheap shots, because if there is, I imagine it will get a little uncomfortable for you to say the least.

Just gonna say this and go: If we had said the same thing about trying to get to your QB (i.e. said it in the manner three of your players had), you'd be bitching and moaning about us trying to knock him out of the game with an injury. (And don't say you wouldn't because you know darn good and well you would.) In other words, I'll take your back-peddling seriously when the shoe's on the other foot.

Show me one quote where a player is talking physical harm like taking out a knee, or breaking an arm etc. Show it to me.

That's what I thought. There is none. Its football dammit. What's wrong with you guys? I'm in no way advocating any cheap shots but a good hard clean hit to a QB to rattle him a little bit, get him off balance is totally acceptable. I'm just amazed at some of the Houston fans here. I really am. We haven't played dirty all year and we simply wont play that way. We'll play hard, fast and aggressive but we would never play in a manner to hurt somebody intentionally.

But in all seriousness, good luck to you, Thundering Herd. Let's have a good game out there. (And if any of you are going out to Robertson Stadium for the game, you might see my girlfriend and me there. Let's make it a raucous, yet safe atmosphere!) 04-cheers

That's what I was getting at. Any given person is already 50/50 to get shanked on their way to the stadium. That increases exponentially if you're wearing Kelly Green, and even more so if you cheap shot our QB.
