There is a lot of good basketball within a fairly tight geographic are of Cincy....Being that as it may...I can't believe that somebody has not yet put together like a holiday tourney in say....the RCA Dome (Indianapolis) featuring the following teams:

Cincy
O$U
UK
UofL
IU
Xavier
Michigan
Notre Dame

This type of tourney would fill the RCA Dome and each of these schools would bring a ton of fans. CBS or ESPN would pick up the games and they could make this like an annual or biannual tourney called say....The Midwest Classic or something like this. This would make for a great tourney and great exposure to hoops in this general area. Thoughts anyone?

If not this then how about....ACC Big East challenge bc we are all getting tired of watching the ACC thrash the Big 10.

Go Bearcats!

That would be a neat a idea. It doesn't have to always be these 8 teams though, as there're many other quality teams in the area from year to year - Butler, Dayton, Miami(OH), Purdue, ...

If only there's a sponsor with money to make something like this happens. The tourney could also lump in with an Indy bowl game around the holidays for a bigger draw....

Alright, I'm done dreaming.

The Big Four Hoilday Classis used to be:
UL
Uk
IU
Notre Dame

Fan support was never the problem, egos were. In all honesty, UL's downturn in basketball was a major reason the tourney fizzled out I believe.

I posted on Insidetheville a few months ago it would be a great idea to revive this tourney. It was the general consensus it could not fly because of two teams( ND & UL) being in the same conference.

When you list great beasketball teams, why did you put Ohio State on there?

I put O$U on there bc even though that school has no class what so ever and even though UC has basically been THE basketball programin the state now for about 14 years......Thad Motta is a HECK of a coach/recruiter and I have no doubt he will get that program rolling.......besides...for tourney attendance...they would bring a lot of fans to Inday.

Ohio State will be one of the best teams in the Big 10 in the next couple of years. They also will be a NCAA favorite 2 to 3 years from now. I would not mind having them in the tourney that you mentioned...

With the Big East Schedule etc. this would never happen...None of these teams could afford a couple losses by playing these teams ina tourney and then again during the season etc.
