Grab FIU and FAU for a foothold in Florida.

Offer Ga State for Atlanta market.

Add Appy State for solid program and ECU rival/travel partner.

Add Nova for Philly market.

Add UNT and UTSA to replace UH/SMU and keep presence in two Top 10 cities.

Although we would be first or second every year, I think seppuku would be preferable.

RE: New CUSA
If C-USA loses ECU and UCF and there is not going to be this worthless "alliance" with the Mountain West, then they should just add FAU and FIU. If they are going to do the alliance (where there would be no championship game in football), just stay at 10. Less schools to split up the pathetically small amount of money that is paid out by the conference.

Of course West is Best comes back and comes up with the worst imaginable C-USA. I know everyone says indy is inreasonable, but if that was our conference ECU would go indy. Anything would be better than that.

Inreasonable? What does that mean?

ECU would not succeed as an indy in nonAQ status. It's either CUSA, MAC or SunBelt at the nonAQ status.

RE: New CUSA
Cant see CUSA at 16 just because and two Miami teams doesnt make sense. People are panicking way more than necessary. Worse case scenario for a conference is what the WAC went through and guess what, they will survive and in 5 years everyone will forget that they were on life support. And that is the worse case scenario. Most likely CUSA loses 2 or 3. It's not the end of the world and none of the possible candidates to bring in as replacements are all that horrifying as people make them out to be. Its not like its the SEC reaching down to the SunBelt or FCS. We have to be realists.

No it's pretty horrifying if you are ECU and you've spent 100 million over the last couple of years to try and improve our position and see yourself playing in the equilivant of the Suck-Belt. That's quite horrifying, and would basically make all that money we spent a complete waste.

The rest of those are spending the same $100 million. The reality is what is needed is $250 million to create separation.

Umm name one team that C-USA could add that is spending that kind of money? In fact how many teams in C-USA are spending that kind of money? The answer is those trying to leave. Whoever doesn't get to leave will pretty much have wasted that money.

Well, that's not a very "Undaunted" attitude. Yes, you'd have every right to be frustrated beyond belief if things don't work out, but with everything ECU has going for it and has done right over the years, are you really going to call it all a "complete waste" just because some bean-counting jackasses didn't deem you worthy of their company? As a candidate, ECU was the best thing since sliced bread. If that candidacy is refused, they're suddenly going to be worthless? Please.

I'M sorry, but all this drama queenery of how "we may as well drop the sport/shut the doors/fling ourselves off a bridge if we can't be in the cool kids' club" from everybody is a pile of crap. Really? Is that because we formerly Independent/tossed-out-of-the SWC/CUSA-types have gotten so accustomed to having privilege, living the high life, and being the prime time game on ABC over the last 100 years, we wouldn't possibly know what to do if faced with hardships and disadvantages? Come on, now.

Whatever happens, just pull your britches up and make the most of what you've got just like you've always done.

No it's not worthless, but the money we spent on upgrades weren't really necessary if our destiny is to remain in C-USA for the long term. Our facilities were more than fine for C-USA. Our goal was to get them to AQ level. We have done that at a very high cost, and if our payoff for it is an extremly weakened C-USA that's going to be a very bitter pill to swallow. Sure it will be nice for fans and all those that get to play in them, but they just will have resulted in a bunch of debt to pay off.
