The Matrix schedule looks to be based upon the projected Top Six Teams in the conference (combo of preferred by TV and likely to be Top 25 teams).

#1 - UConn
#2 - Nova
#3 - UL
#4 - SU
#5 - Cincinnati
#6 - West Virginia

Therefore #1 UConn gets #2, #3, and #4
#2 Nova gets #1, #3, and #4
#3 Louisville gets #1, #2, and #5 (to prevent Top 4 teams from playing only each other)
#4 Syracuse gets #1, #2, and #5 (this fills #1 and #2 quotas)
#5 Cincinnati gets #3, #4, and #6 (filling #3 and #4)
#6 West Virginia gets #5 (filling #5 quota)

This leaves #6 with two 'mirror' opponents remaining. Since Georgetown and Pitt were chosen, this could mean they were considered the #7 and #8 teams or it could mean that these were the 'regional rivals' of WVU most likely to be attractive for TV. I suspect the latter, because they probably only went with the Top 6.

After WVU's mirror opponents were completed, your guess is as good as mine. Or basically, who cares? 03-wink

Cheers,
Neil

Yeah, but I think Pitt may be in for a rough year this season. This isn't the same Pitt team that went to the Sweet Sixteen with Ben Howland. This is a team that suddenly has very few veteran players and really wilted down the stretch last year as it was. They may have a nice schedule, but do they even have the players to compete for much more than a possible NCAA berth (if that). I'm really not flaming here, just posting opinion as I see it. Feel free to show me the light, Pitt fans.

It may depend on whether Cark Krauser the human turnover machine comes back or not. Carl was / is a great player but he ain't a point guard. He did a poor job of distributing the ball last season, turned the ball over too much and often took a poor shot as the clock wound down. This season will tell us alot about whethere Jamie Dixon can win with his talent or just Ben Howland's. On the bright side we have a great class of recruits coming in, and the word is that Pitt will play more up tempo this year.

Not at all, L-Yes. You can thank one of our members at CardinalEmpire.com, prudat. He has done some incredible work for us and you can check it out in our photo galleries (accessible through the message board). I'd post it here but I've gotten in trouble in the past for "advertising".

I was thinking the same thing L-yes...not about using one of the bobble heads but thinking they were really cool. I like your tags as well. You guys are way ahead of me on the technical stuff, but I'm trying to catch up. Let's see, if you press this button...... :bang:
