TCU to Big 12
Will be announced today, that TCU has received an invite to the Big 12. Huge blow to the Big East........paves the way for UCONN and another to the ACC.......will it be WVU or someone else like Rutgers. Then, will WVU get into the SEC? Will Missouri stay in the Big 12, or will they get the SEC invite instead of WVU.
A lot can happen that could very well affect the MAC in some way. Temple is likely to be affected by all of this, and a couple of other MAC schools could in the end as well.

You know, all this realignment stuff used to be kind of fun, but it's really becoming ridiculous. Good grief.

Correction, no one wants WVU for whatever reason. Big 12 is their only hope, and even that is far from assured. WVU should be very scared at this time.

RE: TCU to Big 12
Don Nehlen warned the WVU President and AD to get cracking on finding a new home back when Miami and Boston College left for the ACC. He saw this one coming a mile away. TCU is a much better fit in the Big 12 than the Big East, so I really can't criticize this move specifically

Big 12 would probably invite Cinci before WVU. That tells you something.

Academics are supposedly an issue for the ACC, geography is an issue for the Big12, and the SEC has other desires.

Wouldn't it be ironic if WVU had no other choices but being an Independent or in the MAC? For those that don't understand, WVU had a policy for a very long time that they did not play at MAC school's stadiums.

They would become an independent then.

I agree. And actually they would move to C-USA before they moved to the MAC. C-USA is likely to use UCF really soon.
I really think that Cincinnati is in the worst shape of any of the schools in the Big East. If the BE folds, I am not so sure that the Big 12 would want Cincy. They've already left both C-USA and the MAC once before, but I gotta believe those would be their only options and both would invite them.

I don't want another Ohio school in the MAC. It's crowded enough as it is.

Would Louisville make a move the the B12 without Cinci?
Why doesn't the SEC want WV?

What if we got divided into 9 team divisions that never played each other except for the MACC?

I've long since grown tired of it. It's making sports less fun.

I could see Louisville move without Cincy. It's all about survival for those teams. If the Big 12 only has one spot left and they go to Louisville, the Cardinals snatch it up.
As for WVU, not sure....maybe academics??? Supposedly Missouri is really close to getting the invite as the #14 team in the SEC. You need 9 schools to vote yes for them and they have a majority but not 9. So they have either 7 or 8 schools voting yes for them. I think in the end one or two more swing their way and they get in as #14 in the SEC.

That would put Louisville in a bad spot I think.
It seems that there are a few of the SEC teams in the west not wanting them in because then Auburn would get moved into the East OR Vanderbilt to the west AND Auburn/Alabama to the east.
The later realignment would even things out nicely from the division power standpoint but everyone wants to keep their 6+ rivalry games.

RE: TCU to Big 12
OK so...
TCU to the B12
Mizzou to the SEC
BYU stays independent
WV/Louisville/Cincinnati to the B12 in 2014
So then does UCONN & Rutgers make it into the ACC or stay in the BE and join the MAC as FB only members? (As I think wouldn't happen earlier today but seems more logical now)
If that happens then Temple would get an invite to join the BE along with UMASS while both still being in the MAC for football.

Did they pay anything to the Big East?
Curious, this could be a big cash cow for the BE: TCU pays to get in, then pays to leave before anyone has to travel.
As for the BE folding, you really have to look and see that WVU, Cincy and L'ville are pretty close together. That's a good start. And I doubt USF is getting courted too broadly. So you're at four, and w/ Army, Navy, Temple and Memphis around, a respectable conference is very viable.

Again, that would be pretty interesting.
And you're talking about a conference that's flush w/ cash from bball, especially last years tournament.
I don't think there's any reason to be concerned for any of these programs.
If BE drops fball, there are enough programs to put together a fball only conference. One that will probably be an AQ just on principle.

WVU from every angle is in a bridesmaid spot.
Louisville would be taken before WVU to the BigXII. UConn would be taken before WVU to the ACC. Rutgers would be taken before WVU to the B1G. Missouri would be taken before WVU to the SEC.
I wouldn't worry too much about it if I was WVU. Even a depleted Big East will end up with a better TV deal than before since the money was so low (3.35 million). Eventually there will be more expansion and their time will come to join another conference.
