St. Patrick Eagle Wrote:ND football is about the BCS, not the Gator or Tire Bowl. They have high expectations, and if their season consists of a Gator Bowl etc... then they feel like their season was a failure. I don't think that what happened to WVU a couple of years ago was fair. I think most of us can agree that the BE will be in a better light, once they can stand on their own and earn the accolades on the field and not have to rely on a Non football playing member to get their bowls or having to fabricate a BCS number(UL last year) from a team that wasn't even in their league to make them look better.
Hey einstein; In case you did not know, ND has always been a partner for the BE as far as bowls go, even when Miami and VT were in the BE. If it was not worth discussing then, what makes it worth criticising now?

Have you just started noticing the college fb world? You are obviously very uninformed. CatsClaw is correect. It was the acc that made this deal with the bcs to include BC ranking with the acc. The bcs had to do the same for the BE. Swofford thought that BC would be highly ranked because of a weakened BE schedule. He thought that would benefit his conference since the acc was the conference that had failed to have a champion finish in the top 12 the previous 3 seasons.

You act as though the acc has always enjoyed college fb muscle that they have now since Miami and VT are in the league. Before the raid, the acc was the weakest bcs league.

It was in the USA today as well as sportsline and every other major sports media about this time last year. As I said earlier, you must have just started following college fb.

St.Patrick Eagle,

your an idiot. say what u want about the big east; all we have to do is be the 6th best conference and neither the C-USA or MWC is even close to taking our BCS Plate. i don't know what team or conference u represent and i really don't give a dam but love or hate the BE we are a BCS Conference and that will not change.

Hey Einstein! ND has been a part of the BE Bowl alliance since 98. The BE has been playing football since 91. Do the math, and welcome to College Football newcomer.

That's what had me chuckling last season when everyone was crucifying Pitt for going to a BCS bowl. Just 2 years earlier Louisville handed ACC champion Florida State one of its four regular season losses while in route to its BCS game and you never heard a single critical peep aimed at the ACC or FSU out of anyone in the media or anywhere else.

Wasnt Miami and Vt in the BE in 1998? Like I said before, ND was a partner with the BE as far as bowls go even with Miami and VT in the BE. Why is it a focal point for you now that ND is still a partner with the BE bowls now that Vt and Miami are gone?

The focal point is that eventually the BE is going to have to stand on their own, and get Bowl games through the accomplishments of their actual football playing conference members, not through some loose affiliation with ND. Ask the WVU coach what he thinks of the arrangement. It isn't right that a legitimate BE member busts their behinds all year, looks forward to a New Years Day game and get the rug pulled from them because ND didn't have a season like they wanted and backs into a Bowl that they really don't have a passion for.

I could care less if they are passionate or not. The Big East could come out with a better more diverse bowl situation across the board with a higher payout than before expansion if this plays out and we can thank ND in part for that. Liberty as the #3 bowl vs the SEC is pretty sweet.

My question in all this is what is going to happen with the Liberty bowl if the SEC and the Big East are in it where do the NCUSA champs play? Texas?

The real point is that the BE relationship with nd has not changed since Miami and VT were in the BE.

It doesnt really matter what some envious CUSA fans think of the BE relationship is with ND. If CUSA had the same such relationship with nd, you guys would be besides yourselves. The fact is that the BE relationship with nd is working. And thats what your real beef is with the BE. So stop giving us " the BE has to stand on its own" crap. You wanted to see it go away, but its thriving. Things are only going to get better. So I hope that things work out for CUSA.

I think that it is a great idea and would be a great recruiting tool for the Southeast with a bowl against an SEC team. Plus it maintains a realtionship in the town of Memphis for future expansion with U of Memphis.

I'm thinking Houston or Fort Worth. Which one gets the Big XII #6?

The Liberty will be the C-USA for 2005. I believe the SEC is out according to sources. The remaining options are Big East or ACC.

Fort Worth I think. I would be pi$$ed if we were still in CUSA and they moved the Championship to Texas along with everything else. But that is just me, not knocking Texas though, great place just far to travel for a non BCS type of bowl.

Hey Cuseroc you asked a question and I gave you an answer. If you don't like the answer or can't handle the answer, then too bad. Getting a welfare check doesn't improve the way your Conf or your schools are perceived across the football landscape. A team that refuses to join your football conference has to carry you guys no matter where you go. Until that, along with the overall strength of the NBE improves dramatically, everybody is going to be on your case and work towards BCS reform, and that includes the other BCS conferences that are still befuddled on how in the world you guys could still recieve a BCS penny.

The BCS has been accommodating to the Big East during this time of change. I doubt our 5 sister conferences are befuddled, they are simply protecting one of their own.

I dont have a problem with your opinion. Its your opinion, even though I dont understand you coming to a BE site to tell us about our perceived problems. CUSA has bigger probelms than the BE, like having to find a bowl for your champion to play, but I dont see the need to go to your board and give my opinion on that.

And as I said earlier, who cares what CUSA fans think of the BE? The folks who are doing the most crying about the BE is non bcs folks who dont know their place in the world.

You should worry about CUSA getting back to the level of respectability that it previously enjoyed before you lost Louisville, Cincy and TCU.

I'm sure it will be just scoffed off as a "bitter CUSA fan", but the above quote is a perfect example of why the BCS is a rotten caste system. So Duke and Baylor are more worthy football programs and Utah and pre-2005 Louisville should know their roles?

Guys im not sure Ft Worth Bowl or any other Bowls would be looking to sign up with B12
at their site they have announced that starting in 06 they have:
1.BCS Bowl
2.Cotton
3.Gator/Sun
4.Holiday
5.Insight
6.alamo
7.Independence
Now i would say in most years with the extra BCS Bowl Big 12 will have TWO teams there so that means they need to have EIGHT Bowl eligible teams just to meet their current contract.
Would the FT Worth or any other Bowl put themselves outthee for a NINTH place B12 team?
