Bringing them in could wreck the MAC. Suddenly you have 5 east coast teams- UMass, UConn, Buffalo, Temple, and Rutgers in a conference rooted in the midewest. It would make too much since for them to break off at some point and form another conference, leaving the MAC fractured.
Yes, add in Army and Navy, and suddenly there is a viable conference there.
As for fracturing the MAC, I hold no grudge against Buffalo or Temple, but them leaving wouldn't destroy the MAC.
Really the MAC could lose both the FB Only, Buffalo, and even OU or Akron or Kent and still be fine.
OU might get that "Big East" invite that Kit Cat is always referring to. Of course, Kent is the true gem of the E Ohio schools.
Now, if that bunch grabs Kent and Miami, then the MAC starts to feel a pinch.
What are you talking about!?!
If OU goes where will we all get our weed!?!

This would be the MAC's "worst case scenario":
We expand to enlarge the 'footprint' and have added Buffalo, Temple and next year UMass.
Along comes UConn and Rutgers.
Along comes Army and Navy.
And there GOES Army, Navy, UConn, Rutgers, Temple, UMass, and UB to the "Mid-East Athletic Conference" and the MAC is back to the 90s with teams in Ohio, MI, IN, and IL.
P.S. that's a pretty nice football conference. I'm sure Ohio U. would like to join it. ;-)
(don't mean to start another expansion thread. LoL).
Mid-East Athletics Conference... What an awful name
