NIU wins this OL battle

Not sure how or if this impacts Callen of Hinsdale Central, of whom I recently posted?

Naperville is the 2nd largest community in Illinois. Sprawling is an apt word. When I was growing up there was only Naperville H.S, that was augmented by the "new" Naperville North (filling in near the I-88 High Tech Corridor). The town was about 25,000 then as farmer Smith began selling off his "North 40" it bumped to 45,000. Since then (mid to late 70's) Farmer Smith made a killing dumping numerous 40 acres to the west and south. Central is now really "east". Waubansie Valley and Nequa Valley have filled in the former corn and soybean fields moving west (toward DeKalb).

So this lad has grown up with no downtown, only strip malls with track housing and remaining corn and soybean fields.

NIU has a nice program on par with Toledo and WMU. Apparently there was no "buzz" to go more metropolitan and the lad chose what he is familiar and comfortable with. Open spaces, strip malls corn fields.
