Midnight Madness To Tip-Off 2002-03 Season
Two-ball competition, dunk contest, and scrimmages highlight festivities.

Oct. 10, 2002

PULLMAN, Wash. - Midnight madness returns to Washington State University when the Cougar men's and women's basketball teams hit the Bohler Gym court at midnight to officially begin the 2002-03 season, Saturday, Oct. 12.

Festivities will begin at 10:45 p.m., Oct. 11 with several scheduled activities for the Bohler Gym crowd. The events will lead up to the stroke of midnight, when both teams will be introduced.

After the introductions, a 2-ball competition, dunk contest, and scrimmages from the men's and women's teams will follow.

The first official practice for both teams will take place later that day with the men going at noon and the women following at 3 p.m.

The 2002-03 season marks the fourth year at the helm for men's basketball head coach Paul Graham while Sherri Murrell begins her first season as head coach of the women's basketball program.

It does and I had so much fun at Midnight Madness. I am looking to join the "Palouse Posse" which is going to start this year for men's basketball. It's a group of students at WSU who attend the men's basketball games and cheer on the team as loudly as they can. I like basketball and hope to have fun with this. I should be getting an email from someone about the first meeting. Membership is only $10 and you get into games early and get the best seats in the student section. Also, one of the coaches brings you a pre-game scouting report and you have the chance to win a cool vacation for spring break.
