What I'm getting at is that what you said implies that your school is actually "UL", which it isn't, but they are aware that you guys refer to yourselves as such.

I know a bunch of folks, primarily in two different fanbases, located in the northern part of the state who definitely do not recognize you guys as "UL".

If you think that most people in the state refer to you as "UL" I think you're overestimating the reach of the efforts being made by your school and your fans. I'd be willing to bet there are a lot of folks out of Acadiana who aren't big sports fans, or only follow LSU, who don't even realize you guys aren't still USL.

Yep, a real what?

Um...a real fan? A real fan who doesn't need to get wrapped up in other school's political name change battles or be told what to call another school just because it's what that school's fans wish their name was, especially when I won't even call my own school by the name desired by most...

Again, call yourselves whatever you want in the world of make believe, but for me back here in the real world it's ULL, The Cajuns, or (the athletic branding) Louisiana(which does not refer to the school itself).
