Not. 05-nono

Was Potter the only player on the field? Yeah, I hate that he missed those FGs but it happens to all kickers. Too bad for him that it was today.

C'mon people. I'm not defending his misses but think that calling one player out after a loss is kind of classless. It's a team game.

43 and 49-yarders are not chip shots much less gimmies.

Still, an experienced D-I kicker should be 50% at least on those.

I don't blame Potter, he is not expected to make those kicks.

I blame our offense for looking totally unorganized at key moments.

I blame our snaps from center.

I blame our pass protection , which was spotty at best.

I blame Wiggins for not being able to wrap up.

I blame coach Cubit for not having enough run plays at the start of the game.

We're playing a fill-in center due to injury. You DO realize that?

That's the best D line we've seen yet.

Well, if we need somebody to blame.......05-stirthepot

This program has come a long ways and yes, we let a winnable game slip away today. No need for anybody to be ashamed about anything.

As long as Cubit is head coach, we are going to be a passing team (especially against BCS teams), for better or worse.

That has been more than firmly established.

Especially since he went almost exclusively to Shotgun instead of mostly "Under Center" couple years ago.

Yep, might as well punt if it's outside 34 yards. Or just take a safety. I don't ever want to hear anyone talk about going for it on 4th down and not giving Potter the "opportunity".

JPWMU - doesn't Potter have a 51 yarder to his credit?

WTF is your point? Or do you have one?

Either an attempt at sarcasm (I've updated my detector to 2.0 by the way) or his point is lost on us.

Maybe now we understand those times we've gone for it instead of taking the "sure points". Eh armchairs?

RE: Let's ALL pile on John Potter
Well, BC does like to go for it as I'm sure he wants his offense to believe that they can convert any time they need to. It's his first impulse.

But, yeah, it does give you pause.........

I'm much better as an armchair QB than a real one. But I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

All in all I think the frustration comes from the fact that HE MAKES THESE in games like the CMU game... and misses them in games where we CANNOT affort to lose the points. Not faulting him entirely... he's not an 'on his way to the NFL' kicker... He's a bronco going out there and doing the BEST he can. I refuse to pile on (not withstanding the amount of expletives that left my mouth during the misses.).

Pretty much this. Smokes two 43 yarders to put Western up 41-7 and 44-14 on Central, and a 40 yarder vs. Nicholls for the final three points but shanks a 38 yarder in the Big House and 43 tonight. Does he get cold feet if more than 30,000 people are watching? Will he be good from 60 vs. EMU in front of 118 people with a 49-0 lead?

If a 4 year starter can't be a clutch player, then who can be?

I got a feeling that after John has graduated he will be sorely missed.

I agree with both the last 3 posts. He is not clutch but he will be missed.

I just wish Carder hadn't overthrown the wide open tight end for the touchdown. We would have won that game. However, I don't expect him to make every pass.

Great game by the Broncos. I believe they have have a chance to make some noise in the MAC.
