RE: Goat of the Game
Agree in that there are no goats. My frustration stems from Antiquity overselling the goods. Hard to live up to grampa's boasting.

Thought the personal foul penalty, hit on a defensless receiver, which cost us four point was a key turning point.

Anyone that listens and actually believes all that a parent or close relative says, should have their head examined.

I've done my share of "over selling" the kids, now don't tell me that you haven't.

I'm agree with Chipdip here, that we will miss Potter next year, and we'll also our punter. Two of the best special team players in the MAC.

Always proud to be a Bronco.

Antiquity DID NOT BOAST! He (I) related facts based on firsthand observation over time. John has a powerful leg. You cannot argue against
that. John has already put his name into the Broncos' record book. Barring disaster, he will upgrade his current standing in the book.

His missed attempts at Memorial Stadium? Did he miss by much? Did he "shank" any kick? Each of his misses was close - very close. He has
the physical capability of making 50+ yarders! He did it in high school.

Why hasn't he been able to demonstrate his potential for accuracy while at WMU?

You don't want to know my speculations on that subject!

John had dinner with family members following the game. No alleged Bronco fan felt any worse than he did.

^ You don't have to defend your grandson. He's a good Bronco who does his best, and those who understand football know how valuable he is to this team.

Had he shown "great" accuracy in his early attempts, particulary outside of 40 yards and then Cubit might have gone for it less on 4th down. Then you factor in our 4th down success rate, which was pretty high, and it became a good gamble.

Really it's no reflection on John at all. Just simple probability from the coaches stand point.

I think John's an exceptional talent. I believe he'd be money from 45-50 yards had Cubit given him a little latitude early in his career to miss. But then I was probably one of those people yelling for us to go for the first down when it was 4th and two on our opponents 29 yard line.

I don't go fishing often but when I do I usually land my catch.

On the rare occassion when I botch a breast augmentation no one feels worse than I do. However when the cleavage is a little too wide, it is usually the patients fault for not having enough belief in my ability.

That's not even close to funny, or clever.

RE: Goat of the Game
I think there is some merit, when the situation is pointing to a probability of a FG attempt, to chose a 3rd down play that puts a premium on getting the ball in the middle of the field. I don't mean a simple running play to set up a field goal, go ahead and try to get your first down in a serious way, but try to do a play that makes the 4th down FG easier by a central location.

I might be wrong, but it seems like John is always stuck kicking from one of the hash marks, and that knocks a few points off the conversion percentage, IMO.

My vote is for Cubit. He seems to play it to stay in games, rather than getting as many points as we can.

Hindsight is 20/20, but Cubit had a few opportunities to take calculated chances, and played it too conservatively. We need solid play and a little good fortune to win games like these. We got good play, and I think he needed to put us in a better position to get some luck. This was a real missed opportunity.

I think we outplayed them; and on a fair playing field we win that game.

I still dont get that Cubit cost us this game. Are there specific instances?
And if there are and it points to a failure doenst he get even credit for all the success too?

I don't think enough credit is given to the kids. Then on the other hand when it "doesnt work" it likely is missed execution. I guess that is where we differ.

I didn't say Cubit cost us the game. In fact, I think he put us in good position to win the game. At the same time, however, he made some mistakes in my judgement it terms of play calling, that could have made a difference.

The choice was Potter or Cubit. I voted for Cubit.

You are an idiot!! He needed to get us in a better position to get some luck? This ain't EA Sports chief!!!!! Embarassing post

Thank you for setting me straight Slappy. I see it all clearly now. Perhaps I just needed your thoughtful inspiration. I will just remember to follow the "book of conventional football wisdom". Play it all by the book; that's the ticket. Especially when we are on the road against a good BCS team.

Or, on the other hand, perhaps you are as brilliant as you are pleasant.

I like Cubit, and am pleased he is our coach. I though he had our team quite prepared to play, and believe our guys generally played exceptionally. All of that notwithstanding, I am sure if Cubit himself could do things differently, he would change many of his game decisions.

You start posting here Slappy like a child who just learned a new curse word. My suspicion is that your insults revealed you as the half-wit that you apparently are; so no apology is necessary.

Oh. One other thing; get a dictionary and work out those spelling issues.

Check your post carefully before suggesting the use of a dictionary.

To the subject a hand, I doubt Cubit makes coaching decisions based on the possibility of luck. I do not understand your line of thinking. I would wager Cubit's focus was based on down, distance, score, time remaining etc., not some notion of luck. Just sayin (sorry for the spelling).
