Most of us, myself included, were probably a little to high on the Jags prospects after losing by 22 to a bad ACC team that just lost to Cincinatti by 30 points.

Missed on 4th and goal a minute ago and then come right back to score another.

25-33. One more score and 2 pt conversion and it's a new ballgame. We're killing them in the 2nd half.

33-25 Kent wins with the Jags back down to the 20. Good game, hard lesson. Do not spot the other guys 33 points.

RE: South Alabama vs Kent St., Game Thread
A big momentum changer in this one was a poor roughing the kicker call late in the 1st quarter that changed the field position and allowed Kent State to score and get the big mo. We were a victim of bad calls against NC State (and the ACC office confirmed that), and suffered much of the same today.

Regardless, the Jags dug a hole that was just a little too deep to climb out of, but I don't think this program is far off from at least the bottom of the Sun Belt. Combine that with the fact that our recruiting is going well this year, I think we can fare a little better in the future than most expect. That's not a predicition that we'll win a conference championship, but we can hang in their and might get some wins sooner than later.

good job by south al who I've said will compete from day one.

that said the moment a poster invokes officiating the only thing I see thereafter is blah blah blah and poster loses all credibility in my book.

REFS DON'T LOSE GAMES....LOSERS DO.

this includes any team I follow.

teams don't get jobbed...they LOSE.

Did you see the situation?

At the very least, South Alabama would have flipped the field position in a scoreless game if not for that call. It should have been the 5 yard running into the kicker, which I suspect they would have declined on 4th and 20. It was big.

Also, I didn't say South Alabama lost the game because of the refs. I pointed out the fact that a bad call changed the momentum of that game, and it absolutely did, and there were numerous bad calls throughout.

I went on to say that South Alabama dug the hole.

really not singling you out but other than the russians in 72 which involved time being extended i don't buy refs making the difference in a game.

it's always weak.

no jobbing allowed in beed's world.

you lose and that's it.

end of story. the rest = blah blah blah.

RE: South Alabama 25 vs Kent St. 33, FINAL
I thought we actually finally had a couple calls go our way ( thought for sure both fumbles were going to go against us). That roughing call was bad, but we just didn't respond, at all, to anything, in the first half. Weird that we came out soooooo flat. That was a very winnable game had we not completely sucked ass for 30 minutes. Dammit. I think we are pretty far along for such an infant program, as we've beat ourselves in both FBS games so far. Now, how will the team respond the rest of the season? Will we win the rest of the games, as we are probably favored to do? After NC State I would've said yes. After this game, I really don't know.
