RE: Sun Belt vs $ec
"But FAU is not alone. Troy, which has won or shared the last five Sun Belt titles, is 0-10 versus the SEC.

In fact, of the nine Sun Belt members, only two have won games. Only one, Louisiana-Monroe, has beaten one of the SEC's perennial powers. The Warhawks stunned Alabama 21-14 in 2007.

The other three Sun Belt wins came from Middle Tennessee, which beat SEC doormat Vanderbilt in 2001, 2002 and 2005. Vanderbilt has not scheduled a Sun Belt team since that last loss to the Blue Raiders."

Guess they forgot about our win over MSU. I'll remind them.

You weren't in the Sun Belt when you won that game.

That's correct. However, their information is still wrong. We aren't 0-10 against the SEC.

But as a member of the SunBelt you are. I think thats what hes getting at. Are you saying the article should state that you are 0-9 against SEC teams as a member of the Sun Belt?

I can't believe no one has thanked Middle for being responsible for 75% of the conferences wins against the SEC, clearly we're the bell cow program of the conference...

At least SEC teams in your own state will schedule you. And so will Florida with FAU/FIU. And so has LSU with both SBC schools in LA.

I do wish at the next Sun Belt meeting a moratorium against scheduling Alabama, Auburn, and Arkansas (or any other school) would be introduced until those schools schedule an instate FBS school. I don't like that Troy scheduled the series with Arkansas when our conference mate cannot get them on their schedule.

Understood. But which BCS team do you propose Monroe should go to instead to borrow their fans for a "home" game?

I don't mind if we have to switch states to get the game...it's still the SEC.

I would 100% support a moratorium against any team with a policy of not scheduling in-state opponents!

At least you all get them in other sports such as baseball or basketball. We had over 10,000 people show up for a WNIT basketball game vs. uark-f and yet that is not enough of a financial incentive to play in other sports besides football.

As for Alabama, I do know Saban came out during the SEC media days and said he would play Troy if the opportunity arose. That was his policy at LSU: to encourage intrastate competition.

Memo, LSU has decided they will no longer play UL at this time. Our AD was informed of this decision this week, while waiting on a agreements for future games.

Very curious decision.

I have no problem with their creative scheduling, they found a loophole and exploited it. I do, however, don't like the other team they picked for the game.

I would also discuss how the conference handles the refusal of LaTech to play another one of our conference mates. Although this situation is different because they do schedule the other in state conference mate. My point is their refusal to schedule ulm does hurt their reputation...which because of all of our conference affiliations hurts us all. If we are going to be affiliated with them, I believe we should stand for them...just as I would like them to do for us.

Auburn is playing Samford this year and just scheduled Alabama A&M. Alabama played first-season Georgia State last year.

No matter what that article intended, it was wrong, Troy is not 0-10 versus the SEC.
