RE: New Conference
Only chance Toledo has is if the Big 12 merges with the Mountain West and forces the Big East to poach the best of C-USA and the MAC.

makes a lot less sense geographically than the current mac. enjoy your road trip to waco, texas.

face it, the current conference madness is careless and will ultimately implode for many schools. maybe a mac team or two gets a chance at a stronger mid level conf for a few yrs before it breaks up. that's the best scenario and not really in UT's interest, imo.

and, btw, mid continent is the old name of the current summit league

RE: New Conference
Ask any Marshall fan about their move from the MAC to Conference USA and they'd say it's been a struggle. Half the teams they play now are a plane flight away, making it difficult for their fans to attend games and build rivalries. I'm not the least bit impressed by all the conference jumping.

RE: New Conference
With the PAC 12 voting to not expand any further, this will keep the Big 12 alive for the current moment. This also makes me rethink the idea that the four big boys(B10, SEC, PAC12, ACC) are on the same page with each other. The Big East will be forced to make a decision very soon about their future, and that will create another shuffle of schools. I think the big question is what will the Big East do, and if they are looking for new members, WHO? The Big 12 will do everything they can to apease their current members, and frankly, with the PAC 12 not taking on new members, Baylor and ISU and Missouri are better off remaining in the Big 12. I look for no one to jump off that ship at the moment. Who will the Big East be after as far as new teams. One school for sure will get a look: Villanova. Who will be #2?

The BE brought up South Florida, that worked out pretty well for them. Didnt they bring in UC and Louisville also from cUSA, those worked out well too, how could UT and Temple not work?

Travel is one issue.

The second issue (this was a concern of the PAC-12) is that you start to push schools further down the pecking order of a conference when you add all the heavyweights.

A mid level program in the PAC, for example can dream of winning a conference championship. You add Texas, Oklahoma to that mix and the probability is further reduced. The smaller schools are starting to band together and rise up in revolt of the super conference.
