Sitting in a comfy chair, being able to take a crap in a nice stall, and having a decent bite to eat and drink would make that experience much better and might lead to a bigger donation.

You got that right. That's what Huskie Stadium lacks now: a nice, comfy place to take a crap.

While my other friends tell you about our IPF and deluxe press/club area, let me tell you about our piss-covered crappers with the rusty dividers...
I have seen it first hand, lol.

I think NIU does a terrible job of attracting people to come to games with the Chicago and Rockford markets so close. If teams can fill stadiums of 50,000 in 100,000 towns, why is it we can't fill a stadium of 25,000 with a market of 100,000 and 2.7 million.

Talking college football in Chicagoland is like talking about Hockey in Mexico. It's a pro sports area, and the media won't let you forget it.

The key is to market like minor league sports.

Rockford - 150,000+
Naperville - 140,000+
Aurora - 195,00+
Elgin - 105,000+

Look at those market - they are all within a 45-60 minute drive or less of DeKalb. Take in other markets and you have over 700,000 people not counting students, alumni, people coming from farther out, etc.

NIU has done a piss poor job marketing this as an event to do with you family and not just a college football game. Believe me - people with young kids are dying looking for things to do with them. This also builds a base of fans. Both my kids want to go to NIU because they love going to games.

I agree, we should me marketing to those towns you mentioned more than Chicago.

No, No, No! You were premature with that statement.

I'll take it if you're willing to come clean. Then again, I may not have anything to worry about, because impotent men like you are never around for play.

It's now time for me to withdraw from this verbal intercourse.

If its gameday in DeKalb and you need to drop a chalupa then might I suggest the accomodations at Barsema Alumni Hall and Visitor Center. You are in danger of catching Herpes Simplux 6 if you offload in the West Side commodes. 01-rivals

RE: IPF vs. Huskie Stadium upgrade
I think the following..

Winning solves problems.

IPF helps sooner than stadium additions.

I would like to see a completed horseshoe before luxury boxes.

I agree luxury boxes pay for themselves, but also create additional problems(food service companies, additional staffing)

Conference tv money helps too and the MAC gets little..just read that the BIG12 splits 1.2B in TV money..that helps out tremedously. I would love to see NIU apply for a bigger conference(USA, Big East, big 12) just to see where we stand.

But like I said winning solves problems..

I also agree with marketing to the suburbs more than the city.. I am from one of the suburbs and I chose NIU for 2 reasons.. 1 my wife went here 2 it's closer than NU. I wanted a college football experience locally(college at a SEC school) and NIU seemed to provide the perfect opportunity.

I would rather see the media/coaches/suites update first because...

1. You have to think that the ESPN crew rolls their eyes when they know they get to broadcast from our lovely box that looks like a little league concession stand. Who knows if that is the reason we get less broadcasts than ... other MAC schools.

2. It will be easier to get bigger donors if we have a decent seat for them.

3. Until we sellout 3+ games a year for several (2-3) years or our OOC scheduling takes a big step up, I don't see a need for more seats.

4. I hear that we need some improved food options and I am sure that we can just use the Convo staff for 25-30 hours more per year.
