Quote:With only the last selection slot remaining, it remains unclear whether the Houston Bowl will maintain or reduce its $1.1 million per-team payouts

I guess you havent read their boards lately, many are preparing for it by stating that the Houston Bowl is a beter deal for them that the Liberty.
I guess if you say it long enough some will believe it.

We are still fighting for the Liberty Bowl and will probably keep it !If not then Houston would be a bowl pick up and keep us at 5.Make no mistake losing the LB would be a set back for the league. My hope is 5 bowls and multiple NCAA hoops bids (3) will keep the term "mid major conference" away from CUSA.

No offense, but my feeling is that cusa is more of a mid major now than it has ever been as far as national perception is concerned. Having Louisville and Cincy along with Memphis was enough to keep CUSA away from that label, but now with just Memphis, its going to be tough to keep people from using the term midmajor when addressing Cusa. Utep and UAB will have to really really step up ala Gonzaga to escape the midmajor label.

You're not hearing that from Tiger fans. I saw the same thread and shook my head in disbelief at some of the comments. I swear CUSA is turning into the reincarnation of the SWC, only suckier.

Too late.

Fairly or not some "experts" were calling C-USA a 'mid-major' two years ago even with UL, Marquette, UC etc...

Outside of Memphis, there are not exactly any national programs.....hence the term mid-major. In football, C-USA has always been called a mid-major.
