Just win baby.

I can cout about 6 programs in front of us I think we'd rip in half if we played. Good thing is many of them play each other.

I like our ranking, not too high so the players will not get big headed and not too low to hurt our BCS Championship hopes. Take care of business and we will be more than fine.

I don't like Pittsburgh ranking, I feel it is too low. But like us they just need to take care of business especially against ND and Nebraska.

Spurrier always votes Duke 25th in the preseason because that was his first job.

I only see us being better than Georgia and Florida State. Other than that I see it being pretty darn even as far as matchups against everyone else outside of USC. Truthfully the rest of the Top 14 doesn't scare me in the least.

The 6:

Georgia
Florida State
Florida (I know they have Urban but they were still 7-5 last season)
Ohio State
Va Tech
LSU

I believe we could compete with and probably win against most of those teams.

Preseason mean absolutely nothing! Lets see the Big East prove that poll wrong. I hope to see UL, Pitt, WVU, and, of course, UC :D on that list at the end of the season!

They must be letting Dick Vitale vote on football now.

If it not import, why they have pole position?

If you start at 25 and go undefeated the best you hope for is top 10 but if start at top 10, you have good change of playing in championship game if go undefeated.

I bet you that was Spurrier, he always does that with the first coaches poll.

I know this has nothing to do with a lot but what year did they stop using the top 20 and go top 25?...and I just got finished watching Friday Night Lights...great movie...and remember hearing at one point when they were playing the Dallas Carter team that 9 of their players had already SIGNED letters of intent to D1 programs...now this would be in december...so when did the signing day change to February which is what we obviously now have?

Further proof that preseason polls are a joke...

Unfortunately, where a team starts in the preseason has implications on where a team finishes at the end. I'm sure Auburn can attest to that.

If Spurrier doesn't take it seriously, I wonder how many others don't either.

It's not important because the real polls, the BCS polls, come out later in the season now.

I believe it is still a factor. As long as the BCS continues to use polls as part of its formula, then some schools who are underrated at the beginning will still be at a disadvantage. Again, Auburn is a prime example. I'd say Utah is another good example.

I see no reason for the coaches to release a poll before October. Coaches will be the first to tell you that preseason polls don't mean anything.
