RE: SBR: UA System trying to shut down UAH Hockey
Its is fun to believe that the BOT is out to screw everyone and everything. This conspiracy does not even make good sence.
UATs club team would not compete against a UAH div 1 hockey team in games, for players etc. However a club team at UAH with its superior facilites fan base etc would directly compete against UATs club team for games, players etc. and clean UATs ass

For UATs selfish reasons they would want UAH to stay division 1. I hope UAH can find a conferece and keep playing but the reason below make more sence than this wild conspiracy theory.

They have to be able to show that the program isn't a waste of money. Does UAH hockey make money? I seriously, seriously doubt that this is some attempt to protect club level hockey in Tuscaloosa

When the alternative is laying off faculty, it is about whether or not its making money. UAH isn't the size of UA or UAB. And sure, it doesn't have to be making money purely on its own, but overall is it good or bad for the university? I don't know, I'm not in Huntsville, but the narrative that this is Tuscaloosa trying to screw Huntsville because UA has a club team and blah blah blah is kind of over the top.

You cannot afford to send a team to games all over the country for a majority of a hockey season. The team has a lot of history, and has been very good in the past. As I said before, it sucks, but I believe there is much more to this decision than fan support(because those fans that come to the home games aren't traveling to every away game) and Alabama having a club team.

I lived in Huntsville in the late 80's, and loved the hockey games, although I believe they were D2 whe I was there. It was different entertainment and the community supported the program.

Again, when a majority of games are on the road, how does the community support the program? It isn't a lack of support that is hurting the program right now. And as much as I would like to blame this on the evil empire being insecure, it just isn't true in this particular case. The program is not going to be able to hang on without a conference to play in. I wish them the best, especially since I went to school there, but I saw this coming as soon as they announced they wouldn't have a conference. It's very tough to play most games on the road, field a competitive team, and win games. It's even tougher to make the tournament as an independent. The program cannot possibly be anywhere near self-sustaining right now, and it's hard to justify keeping it in the current economic environment at UAH.

Yeah, I really am not trying to troll. I am all for UAH having hockey if it makes sense, but just to stick it to Tuscaloosa is the wrong reason, and doesn't even make sense.

All well in good, except I never mentioned Tuscaloosa.

Yep - I worried about the same thing.

Keep voting all you want. Unless you are going to write them a fat check, I don't see that doing any good.

Another thing that cannot be helping UAH hockey is that the Huntsville Havoc Minor League team draws very well, about 3500 a night.

RE: SBR: UA System plot over
We win We win !!! - the nasty evil always ploting System chancellor will not be able to shut down the UAT hockey program in the exclusive favor of the UAT club team

WHY did the BOTs give in to our stuffing the ballot box on a web site.

Actually UAH will hire a new president tommorrow. The very hard actual decision will be his.

http://blog.al.com/breaking/2011/09/port...mmend.html

PS AB keep voting UAH hockey will still need your help - even if the plot that IMO never existed is over.

Here is where you go to help out.

Spend heavily my friends. I am going to split a pair with my buddy and donate them to the group of couples we hand around with.
