ESPN = Awful
I've been watching ESPN college football shows all week as they run down game after game. Then it occurred to me: They're just talking about the same handful of games over and over again. I've heard no mention of any of the games Sunbelt teams are playing in this weekend. With all of the ranked teams we are playing (Alabama, Va Tech, TCU, Arkansas, etc.) and another team in a large media market, just down the road from where they are having gameday (UCF), there would at least be a mention. But nope, not even a blurb.

I don't really believe in conspiracy theories. I know that ESPN has lost all credibility as a sports news organization and at the end of the day, all of it's non-event programming is just to serve as advertising for the events it broadcasts... but come on man! It almost HAS to be intentional for them to avoid the "littlebittys".

One of us has to win today and kick some butt so they are forced to talk about us. We're long over due for a day in the sun. Maybe today will be that day.

It's not a "theory" in my mind. ESPN and the powerful AQ's know what they are doing.

For ESPN its bad for Business if an unknown team comes from out of nowhere. They televise the BCS, if little Florida International crashed the party, most of the country would know very little about them, and wouldnt watch the game. Leading to low ratings, which hurts ESPN financially

They dont mind the Boise's BYU's and TCU's of the world because all of them are steps away from joining a major conference anyway. But a True BCS Buster, would hurt ratings if it isnt one of those teams

News? These are for profit corporations. Don't think that CNN would bust out an evil corporation that advertises with them unless they had no other alternative.

It is entertainment & sports programming network, not sports journalism network. :)

There is enough of a Non-AQ market to warrant more coverage for us. Not so much that it runs people off but more.

ESPN is just giving the people what the people want.

Non-AQ teams have to earn the respect given by default to most AQ teams but if a Non-AQ team makes some noise by beating some quality AQ teams ESPN will give them props. Boise and TCU are examples of that.

Thus far no SBC, MAC or CUSA team has really made any real noise.

I agree my Blue friend. It really seems like the strategy of the "AQs" and ESPN is to somehow hide the fact there are 120 plus teams that play at the highest level. That Troy plays in the same division of Alabama and MTSU plays in the same division as the Vols. I know in our state, I really get that feeling and people ask me all the time, "What division is Troy in?". I tell them same as Bammer and Aubbie. That just puzzles them to no end.

Maybe with all the "super conferences" starting to come about, they will break off, but the "haves" have been acting like we're in a lower class all along.

To quote good 'ole Will: “If you prick us, do we not bleed? if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that”

I was speaking of the market of Non AQ fans. You know, people that already follow the teams?

In all due respect, that is a bull**** excuse.

ESPN is doing more than that. It's telling people what they want.

They stopped reporting on sports, and started making the sports stories, a long time ago.

My goodness you mean that ESPN has been taken over by Republicans? If that is the case they might be willing to give up all their money and follow Jesus! Right? Just kidding!
