"Blackout" the UW game?
So since we obviously share the red with UW, are we "blacking out" the game this Saturday? I'd like to know what I should wear...

What? Are you serious.. who cares if it's a home game, it'd be one thing if it's like 90/10 split like a regular home game, but at best it'll probably be like 50/50 crowd split. Wear black.

RE: "Blackout" the UW game?
Well then we can blend in with a bunch of Wisconsin fans. Tradition / pride is nice and all, but it's basically a neutral field game, half the people there will be Wisconsin fans, a large number of them in red. I'd rather make it obvious which team I root for than worry about what I should traditionally wear under normal circumstances, which these clearly are not.

Wear whatever you want. If there had been a notice for NIU fans to wear black, enough fans would be wearing black to make a difference. Without that, probably doesn't matter what color you wear, the whole place will look like a sea of red.

I am wearing red because it's the color I look best in and it's a home game!

No seriously. I am the authority around here, lol, wear RED. We are the home team, our players will be wearing red, the AD wants us to wear Red for photos. But if you want to follow the few that will be wearing Black, by all means do it. It will make us look like we have 100 fans in the stands.

That is complete BS. So, if we wear Red, we'll look like we have how many fans? Oh, wait a minute, Wisconsin is wearing Red also. I can hear the TV announcers now, "hard to tell how many fans are rooting for NIU or Wisconsin, it's a sea of Red!"

We do have TWO colors, don't we? Ever watch a Boise State home game? You'll see fans wearing blue and fans wearing orange.

In the past, when the Athletic Dept. has asked us to wear Black, many of our fans ignore it and wear Red anyway. If I'm going to a road game where the home team is wearing Red, I'll wear Black NIU clothes so everyone can see I'm an NIU fan. I don't care if there's 5000 NIU fans or only 50. To me, that's a great way to represent NIU.

I emailed Shelley to see what the Athletic Dept. wants fans to wear. I'll post it when I hear from her. I'm good with whatever color they ask us to wear.

Does everything on this board need to be an argument? Save your energy for the opposing team on Saturday...

Call it an argument if you want; to me, it's a discussion. That's what message boards are for. I respect the hell out of HMM as a fan; there's none better than him. But I disagree with him on some things. If we all agreed on everything, this board wouldn't exist. That would make a lot people at NIU VERY happy!
