They do this in Maine too. Are they trying to rig their presidental elections towards the GOP too?

Dims don't want fair elections. That's why they oppose requiring identification to vote. They want power, by all means necessary and however many dead people they can muster up.

Right that's why Gore only wanted to count the counties in which he stood to gain. Or why when a dem has 50.5% of the vote "the people have spoken" but when a republican has 50.5% of the vote its time to recount...

yup...both sides do this.

Other than the fact that someone as crooked as Rick Perry could be a major party frontrunner for President, the most disheartening issue for me in the GOP debates is how we are going to cut taxes(fine by me) but apparently not going to touch current SS or Medicare benefits or defense spending. We can't get to a balanced budget if we leave current payouts for 70% of our budget alone with current revenues let alone further cutting taxes. Cutting taxes does no good if your deficits are just going to skyrocket.

I am a bit upset with the GOP focus on cutting taxes. Not that I don't like low taxes but the bigger problem is *spending* and as a party they waste far too much of their powder trying to cut taxes rather than spending.

Leave Taxes where they are, or go back to Clinton levels while at the same time take spending back to Clinton levels (plus inflation)

I have no problem with staying revenue neutral, but we must reform our tax system. Lower rates and get rid of all deductions.

I don't disagree I just think that the fair tax/tax rate/deductions fight is not the most important one. You can win that fight, lose the one on spending and you have gained nothing..

very true. I think we agree about spending. However, no one who has a chance to get the nomination has given an inherent plan to cut spending. Romney has embraced cut, cap, and balance but has come out against everything that is necessary to execute it. The only 2 candidates that have made proposals to significantly cut the 3 biggies in our budget(SS, Medicare, and defense) in the short term(5 to 10 years) are Huntsman and Paul and they both get booed during the debates.

Herman Cain's 9-9-9, eventually going to the Fair Tax.

I think Cain's plan has some merits but the 9% national sales tax would cause my total sales taxes to be at 17.5%. I like huntsman's proposal

1) eliminate deductions and lower rates to 8%/14% /23%.

2) Eliminate the AMT

3) Eliminate taxes on capital gains and dividends

4) Reduce the corporate tax rate to 25% from the statutory rate of 35%

5) enact a tax repatriation holiday

This is a massive tax giveaway to the wealthy. So we will tax income from labor but not from capital? Yeah, that's a great idea.

Capital gains would still be taxed as income instead of treating it separately form the normal tax code.

Irrelevant...this administration will regulate us to prosperity/oblivion. Tax issues don't matter anymore. They can't tax us enough to balance the budget. Why are we still taking about this?

I think that is the point me and bull in exile were making before we got side tracked with taxes.

So you are saying point #3 says "eliminate taxes on capital gains and dividends" when it should have sais "tax capital gains and dividends as ordinary income"?

I was writing it in a hurry and didnt word it properly. Yes, eliminate the current tax codes on CG and dividends. They would be taxed as regular income.

Labor doesnt create nothing. Both our labor force and the holders of capital are important to the proper function of our economy. If you depress one side, it all goes to hell. Example, our economy.
