According to USA Today college athletics finance database, these are some numbers for the ETSU Athletic Department from 2004-05 through 2009-10. There are no numbers in the database for 2003-04, the last year of football, nor for the 2010 -11 year. If I remember, the total athletic budget for the 2003-04 year was somewhere around $6.7 million. USA Today reports that the ETSU athletic expenditures for the 2009-10 year was $10,375,506.00. Comparing the USA Today data of the 2004-05 year, the first year after football was dropped, with the 2009-10 year reveals the following in three areas that I thought important.

Comparing the 2004-05 year with the 2009-10 year:

1. Income from ticket sales has declined 17.88%

2. Income from student fees has increased 130%

3. Total athletic expenditures has increased 49%, or an average of
9.8% a year.
