I think they'll improve - but we have such a long way to go, I don't see it being enough against the better teams. The lesser teams we can probably outscore....

college Football is simple.. BCS teams get better more athletic recruits. They were quicker and in most cases bigger then us. I saw more runnin over our defense then anything.

Thats college football, will it be different with Wisc, a little they are your more tradition Big midwest team big linemen on both side pound and grind it out.

Will our defense be better in the MAC yeah, I think they will but we will have to see.

is there a fast forward button .. i'd like to just get to conference play. I find the inequalities between BCS and Non-AQ teams just basically shameful as a society. It should be about good sports but is so much about the money.

I think that describes it pretty well.

RE: Kansas Game Thread
My perspective is quite different from the one above. Fortunately, I watched the game from the Kansas sideline. Some of the quotes that I heard the KU players say, included:

1. "Don't give up. We can beat these guys." The score at the time was NIU 21 - KU 7.
2. "We can score like them." The score at the time was 21-21.
3. "If we have the ball last, then we can win." The score at the time was NIU 42 - KU 38.

Granted it was Kansas, however, that BCS team was playing at HOME . . . . like true underdogs vs. OUR Huskies.

I mean yes, worse than expected, but I this is when we can be happy we play in the MAC and won't be playing very many quality offenses. Hopefully our D will improve and so will our offense and we can somehow pull out a MACC.

This is about where I am the morning after.

While it was a crazy bad game, the emo apocalyptic posts crushing any and everyone associated with the defense are over the top.

I keep coming back to this: small sample size.

No team is what they are at their best or worst. As the plays and minutes pile up, everyone regresses to their mean. The defense's mean may not be all that good, but there's no reason to be convinced that they are the worst thing ever.

Yesterday bodes poorly for Wisconsin but it isn't the ruination of the season.

Terrible night for me.. First NIU's defense disgusted me and then ND blew it.. Luckily the first 3 seasons of Breaking Bad are on Instant play on Netflix, it helped cured me.

****** defense, 3 wasted timeouts in 2nd half.. all crap outside of the Offense .. I'm over it now, can't do **** about it and complaining won't do anything. I believe in this staff, just don't believe in teh defense. Like I said earlier in this thread right after the clock struck 00, I want changes on this defense, I don't care if we play unexprienced guys, only Progar and Baxter deserve to start.

I believe that too. If anything it will make the previous starters take a look at themselves and push harder to get back in the starting position.

Well, it's a new day and with the initial heartache of the loss subsiding, I don't feel quite so gloomy. I don't think this loss was ANYTHING compared to the MACC loss. That one was too brutal for words.

Yea, we lost to KU, but as someone else said, the casual fan would call it a good & exciting game. Harnish & the offense played really really well.
Ready to move on and look ahead. And honestly, this game wasn't nearly as awful as last years first game was, remember? It's still early in the season and we are 1 - 1. Last year at this time weren't we 0 - 2?

Let's try to be positive. Go Huskies!

Nah we were 1-1 last year too. We lost to the Cyclones, beat North Dakota, before losing to Illinois (who we'd have murdered had we played them a month later).
