Some folks were running with this ND to the Big 12 stuff. I thought this might simmer things down a bit.

Nice try. And I support your attempt to insert reason into the discussion. But the people who were discussing ND->Big12-2-1 as a serious possibility probably aren't interested in swallowing a dose of reality.

But who knows? Maybe your link is what will make them finally see the light.

what else is he supposed to say?

"we're looking at getting out of the Big East as fast as possible!"

Expansion is like poker....no one is just going to show their hand in a dumb interview

they'll get more money from the BE basketball cut, and there are seven little brother catholic universities to care for there. Big East is better alliance for ND than Big XII would be.

ND's not going to the B12. And ND's not going to throw it's rivalry with USC under the bus just to accommodate desperate Longhorns who need a Thanksgiving game.

All this ND talk really shows how boxed in UT is these days. They seem to all have been manufactured by Dodds and Chip Brown to distract UT fans from the fact that the B12 is going to continue to bleed members and replace them with non-AQ schools.

One thing I've learned is that some people are going to believe what they want to believe, all evidence to the contrary not withstanding...

pretty much

I have to think though that Notre Dame is the pretty girl that keeps turning down dates to the prom and then finds out there is no one left to take her

The Big 10 has made it clear they'll take her any time. And even if that's not true, as a member of another BCS conference in all sports but 1, she is guaranteed a date with the short guy next door: The Big East. Both of these possibilities make it that much easier for her to continue to play the field.
